How do i know if my pictures are saving on my card? is there anyway to view pictures objects without looking through the small opening?

The D60 won't save pictures anywhere other than the memory card. If you can playback your pictures by pressing the playback button (marked with a right-pointing triangle), then they are saved on the card.

The display on the back is for the menus, reviewing pictures already taken, and shooting information. The D60 works as SLRs have worked for half a century: you use the viewfinder to compose your picture. The LiveView feature is a recent development in digital SLRs. Nikon introduced it into their cameras with the D3 and D300. The D60 is designed as an introductory model and lacks this feature. Sorry if that wasn't the answer you wanted to see, but there it is.

My Nikon D60 monitor is dark...no image preview, however, playback for viewing pictures taken works fine. I use the viewfinder for taking pictures, but wonder if I've done something to turn off the monitor...

No, you have done nothing wrong. The D60 does not have the preview function on the monitor like the compact digital cameras. Nikon gave that function a name. It is called 'Live View'. The newr models like the D90 do have that feature. You can read further about your D60 here: www.digitalcamera-hq.com

How do I stop my Nikon D60 from highlighting white spots?

When you are in the playback mode, press the up or down arrow on the back dial until the screen scrolls through the various overlays until you get to the screen you want...usually the screen with the frame numbers on it. If this helps, please rate accordingly, thanks.

Need to change language on Nikon D60

Within the menu items that can be viewed on the back of the camera, there is a language option that you can set. You may have to scroll through all of these to get the correct setting. Nikon tends to change the menu layout from camera to camera, so it may not be the same in your D60 as it is in a D300 or other model.

Nikon D60 highlight

When you have the flashing highlight areas, press the down arrow on the command dial and it will scroll through various playback screen options until you get to the screen you prefer to view.

Image flicker when viewing pictures in playback mode

You have the camera in Highlights mode.. while in playback use the up,down, right, left pad press it up and it will go through different displays like what settings you had the camera in when you took the picture then there is a graph screen... after that one is the highlights display which is what you have it on. Push up one more time to have it on regular playback mode. The manual explains this much better than I just did. If you have the manual you should check it out if my instructions dont help.
