No picture or sound!

When I turn on the t.v. the cooling fans come on and the lamp light flashes green. After several times, all three lights in front flash. The lamp looks great and the color wheel spins. What else could it be?

    Bulb looks good.
How do I test the ballast?

  • john hrouda Jul 03, 2007

I hear a click as if starting the bulb.
Is there a way to test the bulb or the output to the bulb?
There is some dust on the components. Could this have anything to do with it?

  • john hrouda Jul 04, 2007

I have ordered a new bulb. I will keep you posted if it worked.

  • john hrouda Jul 05, 2007

I replaced the bulb and still no picture!
There is still a click as if the bulb is trying to start, but no light.
    What else could it be?

  • john hrouda Jul 05, 2007

The voltage to the ballast seems fine.
I am now ordering a new ballast!
I hope this is it as far as parts.
    I am over $320 already!
    Will keep you posted.

The bulb is bad my friend, even if it looks good, the flashing light is the first indication. You should get the original lamp from here http://www.samsungparts.com/part_detail.asp?catalog%5Fname=Parts+and+Accessories&product%5Fid=BP96%2D00224B Good Luck

Oh also the click, like if the bulb is starting is an indication that the bulb wants to start but it cannot.

Get the service manual and measure the voltage on the ballist, if the voltage are good replace the ballist http://www.samsungparts.com/part_detail....

Well my mom was watching tv and it just shut off so then my mom turned it back on thinking she might have hit the power button accidentally. But when she turns it on it started blinking the green light for...

The flashing light red power light should only stay while the fan cool down for about 1 minute after a power off (remember to always wait before unplugging the TV so the lamp can cool down with the fan). Does that flashing start right away after plugging back the TV after an hour of letting it without AC power.

The red light should flash no longer than 10 sec. This prepare the light to be turned on. If all is OK the green should stay (no longer flashing) and the sound and picture come on.

As for the lamp flashing, i bet it's only 1 time each 5 sec? Or do it group many rapid flash each 5 sec?

Things that can be wrong:
-the fan lamp

-the lamp is not proprely inserted (wait an hour before manipulating it to be sure it cooled down, and use glove to not put body oil on it).

-Lamps is defective and is not operating properly so you can't get to the usual on screen message that recommend to change the lamp.

Sxrd 50 won't turn on - Cooling system or dlp lamp?

4 blinks is a fan error, check and see if the fans are clogged with dirt. Unplug the set then take the back off and get some canned air and blow the fans out.

No picture or sound

Does anything start to work? Any of the three fans start to turn, Lamp ignite, etc., when you press the power button or does nothing happen before the Red LED starts blinking. How many times does the RED LED blink?
