This is done by changing the main jet for full throttle adjustments, adjusting the metering rod (jet needle) clip position for midrange and the pilot (slow) jet for idle and just off idle. There is also usually a mixture screw on the carb somewhere, location depending on which carb, that will also control the low speed mixture. Why are you wanting to lean the jetting. If a carb becomes rich for some reason the solution would be to fix the problem not band-aid it with leaner jetting.

Why does my 2005 dyna super glide not idle

Running fuel/air too lean or maybe bad spark plug or wire. Just make sure wires are tight. Might be fouled.

2003 yz450f running too lean

First, try to avoid ethanol. It melts carb lines, and can goo up small passageways. Get some good gas and try again. Hi test if necessary. Check your specs, maybe the bike requires hi test.
Taking apart and cleaning involves soaking in fresh carb solvent to clean the small passageways. Is there an air cleaner? It may be clogged, test with it off.

My Dyna Lowrider 2005 will not idle after warm up. Runs fine on choke.

The pilot jet in your carb is stopped up causing no idle unless choke is on,clean the carb jets and your problem should go away,a clogged pilot/idle jet will cuase a lean condition, and when you use the choke it will draw just fuel and no air, hope that helps.

I have a 2003 FXD Superglide with low mileage...it backfires, hestitates and seems to run lean..It runs just fine when I pull out the maunal choke slightly...Is it a carburetor problem or an air mixture...

Your carb probably need going through. I would suspect that it's your accelerator pump has got a few holes in the diaphragm and maybe your slow jet is partially stopped up. If the bike has been sitting for an extended period of time, this is more likely the problem. The air mixture is not adjustable unless you or someone else has removed the "anti-tamper plug" that covers the idle mixture adjustment screw. And, only then if you or someone else has turned the screw. If the fuel air mixture has changed, it's something wrong inside the carb. I'd either take it apart and clean it or get someone else with the proper experience to do it for me.

Where is idle and can I adjust it myself, on my 2003 dyna lowrider?

You can adjust it IF your bike is equipped with a carb. You may have to take the outer air filter cover off. Look at the top of the carb. Just to right of the round looking top is the idle stop screw. Clockwise to speed it up.

99 dyna 88 cubic inch pops and whistles at idle ,engine noise and no fuel milage 40000 miles on engine, engine light stays on

If it'll whistle "Dixie", I'll buy it. (BG) No, if it's popping and whistling, it's probably got a vacuum leak somewhere. If it's a carbed engine, just look for an unplugged VOES vacuum line. It comes right off the backside of the carb. It might be time for a set of intake gaskets as well. If it's fuel injected, I can't help much there as I don't know a lot about those but if it's popping while idling, it's lean whether it's carbed or injected. If it's injected, you'll probably have to take it to a dealer.

In cool weather , it boggs at times

Harleys are jetted lean from the factory for emissions purposes. If pulling the choke out slightly cures the problem, try a 45 or 48 slow speed jet. If you want to improve performance while the carb is off, try a Thunderslide or Yost kit for the carb. (Several other kits are available, but these are the most popular) They contain, jets, slide spring, drills and instructions. Well worth the money!
