Film loading problem Minolta Maxxum 430SI RZ

I just purchased a Minolta Maxxum 430SI RZ for a photography class I'm taking at the local university. When I load the film (as per the instruction manual), close the camera up and turn the camera on, it starts to load the film--and then it automatically starts rewinding the film back into the cannister.

I've never owned a 35mm camera before, so I have no idea if I'm doing something wrong or what. I'm not pushing any buttons other than the ''on'' button. I have no idea why it loads the film to the beginning and then rewinds it, but I'd appreciate any tips or advice on how to fix the problem.

Not solution, but a suggestion, something to look for/try.
i think it is trying to tighten it and take up the slack in the spool. there might be little red dots or something like that on the inside when you open it up. you are supposed to have the film go to a certain spot before you close it. normally, the film is sticking out the right length, but you might have to pull it out extra first. you might also have to tuck the end of the film behind a roller or in front of a roller before you close it. look for really tiny diagrams inside the camera, or maybe just tiny arrows indicating which way the film is supposed to wind. good luck with your class!

If it has been stored for so long, the internal battery, which maintains the settings etc and is charged from the main battery, is probably defunct.

My minolta wont load the film

There are contacts that "read" the film. Try cleaning them. If that does not work, check in the manual where to make the ASA in manual mode. That means ever time you load film, you have to check to make sure your ASA of the film matches the camera. If that work, you are good to go. These cameras are from the 90's.

I just bought a Minolta maxxum QTsi from a lady and it had no manual with it, I can't figure out how to load the film. Can you take me step by step on how to load the film and how the camera works when...

Hi, I've found the instruction manual online for you, http://www.mediacollege.com/equipment/manual/konica-minolta/camera/maxxum-qtsi.pdf that way you have it for future reference. For loading film you open up the back of the camera and make sure that the end of the roll of film is aligned with a red mark and then you close the back. For taking pictures you press the shutter button half way in order for it to focus, when the image you want is framed you press the shutter button the entire way and it'll take the photo.

I would like to sell my minolta 430si rz but have no idea what I could get for it. There is nothing wrong with the camera. I also have a 28-80mm and a 70-300mm would I be able to keep the lens and use them...

That's an entry level model, with no bells or whistles. Don't get your hopes up. It would likely go for under $20 on Ebay, if you can even get anyone to buy it. You can use the lenses designed for Maxxum on the Minolta 5D and 7D, and all the Sony Alpha bodies. Be aware that there's a multiplication factor, as they do not use a full size sensor. Its about 1.6x the focal length. You cannot use these lenses on another brand. The same holds true for Nikon and Canon. Their lenses made for film cameras have that factor as well. That said, all 3 companies make cameras with full size sensors, but they are very expensive.

Film won't load on Minolta 400si Maxxum Camera

My daughter took the camera to her photography teacher he was able to load the film by wrapping more film around the roller. It's not as easy to load as my Canon. I thought we had put plenty of film around it already. Oh well, it's working anyway.

Minolta maxxum 7000 troubleshoot camera wont take pictures

There are several possible reasons, it could be the body or the lens. Check the shutter blades without film. Are they smooth and in place, (flat)? It could also be related to the film, a mis-load of the roll. The lens could have some failure, possibly try another.
