I bought 32 inch westinghouse LCD about two years ago and having similar problems. After I have the TV on for few minutes, screen goes blank while audio is still on. Sometimes this problems goes away when I turn power off and on but lately, even that doesn't work. I think this is weakness and Westinghouse should take a note of that.

I am having a problem finding the inverter for your tv, we will need the part number from the board.
The inverter will look similar to this 
See along the bottom edge the white connectors, the wires that go to the backlight connect here. Again yours will look similar to this not exactly. The inverter is basicaly a ballast like in a regular florescent light. Please leave the tv unplugged for at least an hour before you open it up, There is still a schock hazard even when the tv is unplugged, be careful and do not touch any components, we just want a part number for now and later we will do the install. I tried your troubleshooting method and did see video when I flashed it with a flash light. Do you know the part number for inverter and its cost? I appreciate your help.

How would I know which one is inverter if I open the back of tv? Does it say inverter on it? Another question, what exactly does the inverter do?
