According to the specifications the camera has both an in-built mmory, and also accepts an SD card with a maximum of 512 MB . Maybe it will accept a larger SD memory card but only record up to 512 MB? I do not know.
SD cards are common in camera stores, but these days they make them with 1, 2, 3 or even 8 GB ( 1GB about 1000 MB) !
Please check if the Computer supports SD card of larger capacity. If preinstalled OS is Windows XP Operating System, supports SD card from 512 MB to 2 GB max and does not support SDHC card. Windows Vista and Windows 7 Computer supports SD and SDHC card upto 8 GB to 16 GB,.
The Dimage Z3 accept SD cards up to 1GB (Minolta says 512 Mb, and sold it with 16Mb). This camera is 4MP , and uses less memory on card, therefore a 512MB card will be enough for it.
i can get mine to work with a 512 mb sd card but not with a 4 gb. I am thinking maybe it cant read sdhc but only regular sd. i wish i had a 2 gb to test this. The manual says max images 512. wonder if that is 512 mb or 512 count. When i put in 4 gb card it says wait and stays like that , 512 card it imeditally shows pics
