Just bought an Acer Extensa 4620-6456 with 1MB ram (supposedly 2 512 MB) but researched it before purchase so I also bought 2 1GB DDR2 667MHz modules for an upgrade. When I opened the back I could only find 1 ram slot filled with 1 stick; also I run Belarc Advisor and it says I only have 1 slot filled with 1GB stick. I need help resolving this - do I need to return the 2 ram sticks and buy 1 2GB sticks?

its located underneath the laptop should be 1-2 phillips screws the ram sticks are inside push the tabs on the end's of the ram sticks they will pop up on a 45 degree angle remove them and replace with the amount you require if only adding 1 stick with an exsisting stick make sure to match ram speeds for better performance good luck
You can't increase the video memory on a laptop...as games update/upgrade, the video requirements often increase as well. So, what used to work with less video ram won't now.
You could try decreasing the number of video colors your system displays - for example from 32 bit to 16 bit. You'll see what I'm talking about when you open the properties for your desktop and click on video settings.
Hi there. I recommend you get another stick of SODIMM to replace what seems to be the faulty stick. If you are using XP or Vista X86 (32bit) then the system will only recognize 2.8 - 3GB of memory, only 64bit operating systems recognize the full 4GB.
