I just got a garmin quest 2 with my new fj cruizer and it is calling for a pin number. I have the serial number and the 25 character unlocking code but no pin number. Where can I get the pin number/ No reference to any pin number in the owner's manual.

Only way to have the unit unlocked is to enter the correct PIN # or take
the unit to the area where the PIN was set and it will auto-unlock.
Last option is to send the unit to Garmin. More info can be found here:
You must return to with-in 50 meters of the SECURITY LOCATION of where you first setup your gps to automatically unlock your gps and reset Pin Number
most are set up at your home or office location
The only other way is to send your gps back to GARMIN to have it unlocked with the proper receipt of ownership
All Garmins GPS are registered before maps are unlocked so they would have a record of your serial number on hand with your proper name and address..... if the unit was transfered to you the original owner must call garmin with the information
You have Garmin Lock activated and there are only two ways you can unlock it.
1. Enter the PIN code (but you clearly don't have it).
2.
Take the unit to the Security Location you chose when activating Garmin
Lock: it will then unlock without the PIN code and you can then either
reset the PIN or disable Garmin Lock. The Security Location should not
be the owner's home address, but many owners ignore this recommendation.
Many owners choose their workplace or a close friend or relatives
address for this purpose.
If neither option works then your unit
is useless unless you send it to Garmin with proof of purchase. Garmin
charge for the service and if your maps are not up to date then it's
really a waste of money as the investment would be better spent on a new
unit with current mapping.
I hope that you manage to either fix
your problem using my advice or at least can decide whether to abandon
the unit and buy another.
The serial number is on the side panel of the
box, and additionally at the multi pin connector on the bottom of the
unit. Hold the unit with the connector facing up and the front screen
pointing away from you. There will be a decal with 17D0xxxxx at the
connector.
I was surprised there is no yellow sheet with this mode, it alson has the serial number on it When you
call Garmin to order Mapsource, have your serial # handy and ask for an
unlock code for the maps.

Unfortunately no. You'll either have to get the PIN somehow, or send the unit to Garmin to be unlocked. I would first call Garmin and see if there is anything less annoying you can do to unlock it. Perhaps if you provide the serial number they can do something.
www.batteryship.com. Look on the screen for "GPS Devices". Click on that and it will take you to a page of pull down menus. Find the Garmin menu and just look for "Quest". Battery is about $25.
Programming the Garmin Rhino 120 using a PC requires an interface kit and may also require a RS-232 to USB converter cable or a 9-pin to 25-pin serial adapter depending on what interface is available on your computer.
The interface kit and cables are available on the manufacturer’s homepage for the product: www.garmin.com/products/rino120. Click on the “Accessories” tab and scroll down.
If you have forgotten your PIN number, and your security location, send the unit to Garmin and they will reset it for you. You will have to provide proof of purchase.
