Any explanation/solution for an error code C:31:42 on a Sony Digital Handycam DCR-TRV530?
C:31:42 shows following error..
FG fault during normal drum operations.
Its related to drum assembly (video head) in camcorder and possible reason can be drum stuck with some thing, no power to drum motor etc.

Provided info are complete and correct. needs better rating as yellow rating hurts our ranking at website.
“No power to drum” answer made me pull out battery
And only use AC power cord!

I had same issue, removed battery, smacked bottom of camera a couple times and now it works. Have been having this issue intermittently so I'll see if this is a permanent fix. Only a few more tapes to transfer to digital!
Same solution with TRV-840. Removed tape, slapped bottom a couple of times - no9 joy. Removed battery and used line power; all good.

Here is the solution to your problem: C:31:42 = FG (film guide) fault during normal drum operations. Load the tape again, and perform operations from the beginning! Hope this helps.

C:31:42 and the eject icon both flashing. And the tape cant come out Its stuck. Pleasse help me reopen this device

my tape still loads / unloads properly but i get the error code c:31:42 ..the tape guide on the left side is not mounted ridgid ...has some flop side to side ....not sure how to Tighten it up or should it be. is this my error code problem
