Be sure to install a brand new needle. Verify it is the correct needle for your machine and it is installed facing the correct direction.
Remove all the thread from your machine. (Clip the threads below the thread spools, RAISE the presser foot, and gently pull all the threads DOWN through the needle--NEVER up!)
ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot and rethread from the beginning. Verify that you are threading each thread in the order specified in the manual--failure to do so will cause your machine to malfunction.
When threading, give each thread an extra little tug when going through the tension disk.
Set all the tensions to the midway point for a 3 or 4 thread overlock.
Test your machine.
If the left needle still fails to stitch, then your machine may need a timing adjustment.
try changing the needle--make sure the needle is the correct one for the fabric being sewed. also make sure the needle is turned the correct way in the needle holder and pushed all the way up into the needle holder.
Skipped stitches
1. The needle is not inserted correctly
Remove needle & reinsert needle( flat side towards the back of machine)
2. The needle is damaged
replace with new needle
3. The wrong size needle is being used
Choose a needle to suit the thread & fabric
4. The foot not attached correctly
Check & attach correctly
bird nesting problems
Try these suggestions
1. Change needle
2. Rethread the machine--top --make sure to use every thread guide
3. Take the bobbin out --make sure it is inserted correctly into the bobbin
Case, & make sure the bobbin is turned the correct way
4. make sure the thread has not come off the thread take up lever
5. Clean under the needle plate & in the bobbin area for lint or threads
The needle thread breaks
1. the needle thread is not threaded properly
2. The needle thread tension is to tight
3. The needle is bent or blunt
4. The needle is incorrectly inserted
5. The needle thread & the bobbin thread are not set under the presser foot when starting to sew
6. the threads were not drawn to the rear after sewing
7. The thread is either to heavy or to fine for the needle
try changing the needle rethread the machine top & bobbin make sure the bobbin is wound correctly & inserted correctly into the bobbin case if these suggestions don't help then you might think about having the machine checked at a sewing machine shop
try changing the needle rethread the machine top & bobbin check to see if the thread has come off the thread take up lever clean under the needle plate & in the bobbin area for lint & thread
it's very possible that the machine is slightly out of time & needs to be service at a sewing machine shop is the fabric & thread & needle compatable with each other? did you use every thread guide when threading the machine? is the bobbin in correctly? is the bobbin warped?
that use to happen to me on my sewing machines, I would rethread the machine to make sure the thread is not caught on anything like the thread spool, or around anyone of the thread guides
also for both top & bottom threads, I keep a thread tail of 3 to 6 inches & before I start sewing I pull the thread behind the needle to the back of the machine & the I put the fabric under the foot & start sewing & now I don't have that problem anymore
