Your defrost heater assembly has probably failed. Look at the ends of the heater for darkness like that of a bad neon bulb. Replace the heater assembly as a unit after removing the ice with a hair dryer. Becareful not to drop the glass heaters when replacing.

There is a sheet of ice forming in the ice cube tray and a larger one forming on the bottom of the freezer. The GE refrigerator is only 6 months old.

Because the sheet of ice is forming on the ice maker first it leads me to believe the water control valve for the ice maker is leaking water into the ice maker when it should be off. A filter installed before the dual water control valves would also be helpful. If you could find the model number of your refrigerator I would be able to tell you the part number. Sea Breeze

Freezer is icing up. Unit is about 2 yrs old

You need to check out the back of the freezer. At the current status, it may be locked with ice. Have it defrosted or just have it melted away. Clean the coils and the entire unit. Either the drains were blocked by food debris or dirt causing water to accumulate and ice to form or the thermistor has been iced or is faulty or too much ice accumulated in the unit's coils.

Sheet of ice forms in bottom of freezer

Frost free fidges are supposed to stay frost free because the automatically defrost regularly. When they do this they may drain water down to the bottom of your fridge. Look for a tray that catches this water underneath the unit. Make sure yo keep it emptied. If you live in a very warm climate you may be getting a lot of humidity inside. There may be a switch that you can change for lower moisture.

Ice forming where ice comes out to refrigerator

I am not sure if this is the same issue or not.  the flap that closes after you have dispensed ice does not close or seal all the way.  The gasket is worn down. the result is warm air get up into icemaker and warms ice and refreezes in one block so now the dispenser gets blocked.  We had to replace the flap in the door.  bought the part at an appliance part  store (not sears) they were helpfull and looked up the part needed.  Also a sheet of ice forms on the  bottom of the freezer.  When water is dispensed a small bit drips inside freezer in back and runs down to botom of freezer slowly forming a sheet of ice.  Use a hair dryer to defrost and then you must unclog the drain in the back at the bottom of ffreezer to allow it to drian.  Once we finally unclogged the drain we have not had any problems for about 2 years.
