There is a line connected directly to the humidifier, though it seems as though there has never been any running water through, the humidifier seems to be working everywhere otherwise, when you detach the lines the water pours out. So why wouldn't the water be reaching the humidifier? The instructions aren't very thorough, and I've contacted Honeywell with no help. They have yet to return any of my e-mails and when I call I'm on hold for about an hour and hang up because I'm not waiting that long.
Replace the Valve on the unit. Check the small filter inside of it where the waterline attaches first. If its clear and you have lots of flow from the 1/4" line the replace the valve.
They shouldn't be that noisy. They don't use alot of water. the water draining from it should be a steady fast drip or small stream. The quiet it down try turning the main water valve down a bit to reduce the pressure in the line while its running. Just start the unit and close the valve slowly untill it get quieter. But you will here some noise from it, but not much. let me know how it turns out and dont forget to rate me. thanks
Have you checked the tube from the valve to the filter? If you have hard water either the hose is getting dirty or the sadle vave is getting plugged. If the hose is dirty soak in in CLR. If you disconnect the main water line from the valve and turn the feed valve on you should get very high pressure coming out.
I prob should have asked this earlier, but what brand is this? Is it a honeywell? Some brands the hose/tube connects to a plastic box that has many holes in it to let the water drip accross the filter. If it is a honeywell remoce the 2 nuts on top and clean inside.

I have the water running to it now, but it's very very noisy. It seems to be the valve that is very noisy. Is this normal? How do I minimize the sound? It's very loud. I also don't think it's getting enough water. How do I change that?
I've tried replacing the valve, and I turned the water pressure down so almost to the closing point, with no help. There is no water come out the drain tube, it seems to be evaporating right in the unit. I opened it up and ran it while I was watching, and there is water dripping in, but nothing making it all the way down the filter to drain out. It just doesn't seem like it's getting enough water to it. I went to my parents and checked theirs out, and it's a more steady stream of water, not a drip. So now that I've replaced everything I still don't get what's wrong with it. The noise seems to be loudest in the bathroom, where in the wall is where the plumbing is hooked up. I can't believe this is so hard for me to figure out!
I've done all that, and it's not dirty. I do have hard water, but it goes through a softener so it's not bad after that. It is the honeywell he220a. I have it a little bit quieter now after all that. But it still seems louder than it should, though could that be from the water pressure thats not getting used? I don't know much about plumbing so I don't know if that sounds weird or not, but it seems like that is where the noise is coming from now.
