Stripes across viewing screen

The last bunch of pictures have what appear to be stripes across the viewing screen. have not printed out any though. Same problem. They print that way as well. I have been having the same problem with my Nikon Coolpix 8700. Stripes across the picture - they also download as a very light incomplete picture, not the usual full colour picture.

Almost sure this is cause by flex circuit in the zoon lens that is damaged and need to be replaced. Almost always the problem of stripes in the picture is worst when you take pictures in full zoom mode because in this position of the lens the flex circuitis is fully streched. Thats all folks

Thank You Robertocb, I've the same problem with my Nikon Coolpix 8700 and I didn't find a solution for it..
If this is caused by flex Circuit, where can I find it (which store?)

    Thx

Set date and time imprint on all photos on Sony DSLR A200

Your camera won't deface your photos by scrawling a bunch of numbers across them. However the date and time (and a lot more) are stored with every picture in its EXIF metadata. Any photo viewing/editing program should be able to display this data. To print this data, please consult the documentation for whatever program you're using to print your pictures. Depending on the program and printer you may print the date on the image, in the margins, or on the back.

Prints in stripes

Hello ron.. Epson printers are engineered to print stripes when you use generic printer cartridges. That sounds like your problem. These printers have a chip that will detect if it is generic. When using generic cartridges, it will print lines thru the words, stripes across the picture and also do a mix match with the colors. Joe

Thanks for choosing Fixya!

Turned on my TV today to find a 5" horizontal stripe across the middle of my screen. I can view the picture through the stripe but the picture brightness on the top 1/3 and bottom 1/3 of the screen is much...

This sounds like an impact injury to the screen itself. It is likely that something may have hit the screen or if the set is old, the part inside may be starting to go.

Hope this helps

Third attempt to post this...

I believe this is the issue that Nikon is repairing at their expense. You can find the advisory on the Nikon website. Here is some of the text from that advisory:

It has come to our attention that in a limited number of COOLPIX 3100, 3500, 4500, 5000, 5400, 5700 and SQ digital cameras, an electronic component may, in some instances, fail affecting your camera's performance and/or operability.

While only a limited number of COOLPIX 3100, 3500, 4500, 5000, 5400, 5700 and SQ digital cameras are affected by this advisory, if your camera presents symptoms that can include (1) images with a strong color tint, (2) images that are totally black and/or (3) images with visible defects, Nikon will, upon confirmation that the problem is associated to this Service Advisory, service your camera free of charge.

To obtain complimentary service for cameras affected by this advisory, please click the link below to download and print the Service Return Form. The Service Return Form provides detailed return instructions.

The Frequently Asked Questions button at the bottom of this page offers more information about this advisory and, should you have more questions, also provides information about how to contact Nikon.

We apologize for any inconvenience you may experience.

BTW, I sent my E5700 to Nikon a couple of years ago -- for this same problem. They repaired and cleaned my camera -- and had it back in my hands within 7 days.

I hope this helps!
Regards,
CharlieJ

Stripes

This is caused by a stuck shutter. Since the camera is under a year old it is still under warranty.
