Staple is jammed
First slide off the rubber grip This will expose a pin that you will need to remove. Remove the two bolts on top of the hammer with a 10mm wrench. These bolts hold the striker plate guide. Place the hammer in a vice to lightly compress the hammer head. Remove the allen head bolt located on the end of the head. This bolt holds the striker slid that strikes the staple. Remove the pin that you see that was under the rubber grip. Just tap with a punch and then you should be able to remove it with a small set of pliers. Now slid the enter assembly back just enough so that the jammed striker slid will come in contact with the striker guide face. Turn the hammer over and strike the top of the hammer on a piece of wood. This should free the slide and jammed staple. The staple and slide will come out. Take a file and deburr the slid and add a dab of grease to it. To reassemble, Attach the slide guide first, but leave it loose. The rest is reverse order. Hope this helps.
My BHT150 could never install more than 6 staples without jamming, now its working perfectly and a real workhorse.
The grease solution above attacks the basic problem but there is a more long lasting solution:
The pusher blade (slid?) is angled about 2.25 degrees in order to travel through the staple delivery slot as it drives the staple. It needs just a bit more angle. I set mine to just over 4 degrees with a .005" shim and the unit now is frictionless and has driven many a staple without a jam.
I really like the unit's robust construction, affordable price and compact size so found it worth spending some extra time on.
In the prior author's description of opening the unit, one is directed to remove the rubber grip in order to remove the pivot pin, this can be avoided by just pushing on the rubber "dimple" opposite the steel dome head of the piviot pin and then folowing the rest of the instructions.

I have followed the instructions on these two posts and have the unit disassembled but can't seem to unjam the gun. Is there some trick that I am overlooking or do I just need to keep banging it on something until it unsticks?

Tim,

Tim, Try removing the hex head screw if you can reach it. This screw holds the staple pusher blade kto the upper body of the stapler. Once removed the two halves should seperate and you can then more easily see the problem and fix it. If this does not help the just remove the black components from the orange handle and use a flat blade to pry the two black parts apart. Probably a mangled staple jamming things.
