SOURCE: Toshiba Super G3, e-Studio 170F

Fax display screen always reads, "Auto receive". When attempting to fax, the busy light flashes. Busy light stops flashing for 30 seconds, then starts flashing again.
Above is the default settings for the fax.

NGB0 indicates signal error or line condition error.
U need to check the phone line. U can hook any single line phone to the phone line, check for tones without background noise.

I need to know if ny faxes were delivered even though I received results and comments such as NG, Cancel, OK, TX and TX,ECM.

The results your machine prints sometimes are only guides as to the conditions of the line etc, etc,....if you have to know with ABSOLUTE 100% CERTAINTY that the fax was recieved at the other end then you wil l have to call them on the phone, or send them an e-mail. and ask!!!!

NG result

NG is just the error and not the problem, you have to read the code with the NG, it could be a phone line problem, a problem with the fax on the other end, a busy or not answered fax...any number of problems.

OUTGOING FAX ERROR CODE: NG

Hi,
I can advise you on the 'memory full' problem, mate.

If you get a MEMORY FULL message while scanning the first page of a fax, press Stop to cancel the scan. If you get a MEMORY FULL message while scanning in a subsequent page, you’ll have the option to press Start to transmit the pages scanned
so far, or to press Stop to cancel the operation. In this case, send the fax by the Manual Transmission.
Depending on your typical faxes, MEMORY FULL errors can occur frequently. If this happens, change the Memory Transmission setting back to OFF.
To do this:

Press Function/Set, 3, 9.
This should take you to MEMORY TX
and MEMORY TX: ON?
Then press either the left or the right arrow (< or >) to switch on or off, and press Function/Set.
For the next fax transmission only, press < or > to select
NEXT FAX ONLY and press Function/Set.

This will mean you don't add any more to the memory and may be able to send faxes. There is a possibility that you will only be able to fax using manual transmission, but at least you should be able to use the machine to fax at all!

I apologise if the jargon is confusing, just try to go through the process one step at a time and you should be fine.

Hope this helps :)

Canon fax mp780 says 'ERROR TX REPORT' 'result NG', what do I have to do to to snd the document? The manual has no translation of error codes!

If you go into the fax tx settings and turn off ECM setting, the fax should send (at least it did for me when I had the same problem).

Cannot Send Faxes

Problem:
Not sending to long distance and government sites with encyrptor. Note: NG is not actually part of the Fault Code. NG stands for No Good on the Activity Report. Cause:
Not enough time to hand shake. Another cause of B5 can be a faulty Main PWB. Note: Should you wish to change the Main PWB, consult the following ETI 170535 to insure that you are selecting the correct part number. Solution: thumbsup.gif Fixed! thumbsdn.gif Did not fix. On speed dials and one touch numbers that the Customer is having problems with, you will have to modify the number to be dialed. What you have to do is add pauses to the end of the number. (example 555-5555 does not send to, error B0 (that is B Zero ) every time / then start adding pauses at the end of it until it works. Example 555-5555#. in some cases in Winnipeg and surrounding areas we have had to put up to 6 pauses to get a successful send. Note 1: These were to Fax Machines with encryptor devices and long distance...Avoid Call Backs. Inform the Customer of this. LEAVE instructions on how to do this. This will save your and your Customer some headaches. Note 2: Some success has been found by turning off the V34 Modem
