Heavy water leak in basement under fridge

I hear a rushing sound of water and there is a heavy leak under fridge pouring through ceiling of basement. Kitchen is dry - fridge seems to be working normally -- but sounds like the water is pouring out back of fridge

It's strange that your kitchen is dry but you can hear water pouring out the back. I can hear the same sound coming from my fridge, but the water is pooling on the kitchen floor instead of going into the basement. Still, we might have the same problem. I'm going to call a plumbing service to see if they can fix my problem.http://www.newmanbarker.com.au/

On sub zero the water valve is located on the bottom of the machine,if the valve cracked or fill line is leaking and the plumber drilled a hole in the floor under the unit for the fill line to pass through to hook up to fridge and it leaks the water will find the hole and leak into the basement or the floor might not be level and tilting back the water will leak where the floor and wall meet so this is probably why this happened if it's a constant flood,if the water is leaking periodically then when the machine goes into defrost the water drips down into a plastic drip pan,if the pan has a crack in it then it will leak of course onto the floor and into the basement.

Has this fridge got an ice maker???
Because ice makers require a water supply to make ice.
This could be where your water is coming from.

You will need to look for water line leaks but water in small amounts can also come from a defrosting drip pan. The dust and fuzz that get into these things over the years also can cause water to go where it is not suppose to.

There is water in the refridgerator

You have a disconnected defrost drain pan. You will need inspect the ceiling of your refrigerator compartment and find the drain hose going from your freezer to your fridge then the drain pan. Sometimes this is molded into the plastic at the back of your fridge and it simply leaking out the joint. Start by defrosting your freezer, then pour water in the freezer itself while checking the ceiling of the fridge for water traces. Keep a wet/dry shop vac handy or a mop to keep up with the excess drainage. Then reattach the hose to the little drain nozzle when you find it.

I opened the door on this frig this morning and water poured out like a small river! It filled the frig, and leaked below into the basement. Horrible! I noticed the water streaming out of the built-in...

obviously a filter leak. the water shuts off when the filter is removed. either it wasn't installed properly or it has a bad gasket. as for the fridge getting warm, the water probably collected and froze to the evaporator coils and now resrticts the cold air flow. you need to turn off the fridge, empty it out, leave the freezer door open, and let the coils defrost on their own. or remove the back panel in the freezer and defrost the coils with a hair dryer. you will need to soak up some water, but not nearly as much. once it's defrosted, dry it out, close the doors and turn it on while it's empty. when it's cold enough, replace the food.

Water in my fridge

sounds like a drain clog in the freezer compartment above. remove the freezer rear panel and totally defrost the evaporator area, directly under the evap you see( under all taht ice) a small drain hole that has become frozen over, try defrosting with either a hair dryer( not a heat gun too much heat youl melt everything) or by pouring hot water donw the drain until you get a free flow of water down the tube. after its clear reassemble and you should be fine

Plumbing connection to dishwasher leaking

Remove bottom panel and run dishwasher while monitoring it. A large leak may be from a hose off at pump underneath. Mice can chew holes in hoses too.
