This sounds like a broken drive pinon on the motor. (They made these out of plastic to save weight.)

If so (and it is very common) The only solution is a new motor I'm afraid, and this makes for an expensive repair, if the motor can be obtained. (Which is unlikely.)

Sorry.

On the bright side, Pentax have a great reputation for compatiability throughout the range. So the lens is worth keeping. Just obtain another pentax body.

I snap a shot on my Pentax zx-7 and the flash will go off but the film doesn't advance, the number on the roll indicator stays that same, and there are no negative being transferred onto the film...

Hi I need more information. After pushing release button, you will hear motor running sound---like mirror goes up and down and takeup spool running sound. I want to try more. First remove lens and set M mode. Push release button. You will see mirror up/down and motor running sound. If you can see these thing, then you have defective camera. Let me know more detail. thanks and best regard!

My nikon d70 wont focus at all

  • Make sure both lens and body are set for autofocus. There are two switches near each other with "AF" and "M" settings.
  • Check the camera's focusing settings, or do a factory reset (from menu) to 'start over'. Usually helps to have AF-Assist on.
  • Try setting the AE/AF-lock button (upper rear, near right thumb when holding camera) to turn on AF. The camera may respond better to this than half-pressing the shutter release.
  • Make sure the lens is fully attached to the camera. You shouldn't be able to rotate the lens without depressing the lens release button, and you should be able see a tight seal between the two.

My 7d is stuttering?!

vibrating sounds, flashing shake indicator, shutter won't release...

It's a fault in the camera and has to be repaired at the shop, Sorry, I know it's not the answer you were hoping for, but it's a depressingly common problem on the 5d/7d forums.

Pentax AX-7 does not take picture

If you just put in standard AA batteries, they do not have enough power to drive the camera. Use high power ones, or better still 2300 mAh or 2500 mAh rechargeable batteries

AF flashing green, red AF sign on screen - won't take pictures

When you depress the picture button you should both hear the camera making motor noises and see the image focus changing as it seeks the proper focus for the image. If no focus movement takes place and you hear nothing then the focus motor is either completely jammed or malfunctioning. Alternatively focus movement may take place but it never finds the right focus point. Or you may hear a buzzing or clicking sound when it should be focusing. These symptoms can be caused by impact or, more commonly, sand or other contaminants making their way into the delicate system which moves the focus element. The camera will require professional repair in either of these cases. David Millier Advance Camera Repair

No pictures recorded/black screen

it seems that shutter blades are stucked and are not working. when you say shutter is fully open i think you are talking about the lense cover, not the internal shutter assembly. the red light is the indication of OUT OF FOCUS SUBJECT OR FLASH NOT READY. if the shutter blades aare not open the camera would not be able to do the focusing and will flash the red light thus you would not get any image. contact the repairer.

When recording sequentially, how long do I have to wait between frames (recording interval)?

The recording interval between when the shutter-release button is depressed until the next frame is available is approximately 0.9 second. (Focusing time not involved. E.Fine/Fine/Std, 2560x1920.) Raw/Tiff take aprox. 1.1 sec. due to large file size.
