Broken needle threader?

For the Brother SE-270D: I'm trying to thread a spool and the needle threader doesn't thread. The thread stays at the top. I'm new at this but I followed the instructions, inserted the thread cassette as indicated, and the thread isn't pulled down to the needle. Any solution to this of how I can fix it?

Mine does the same thing. It's as if it drops the thread when it's bringing it down to the needle. I have tried and tried to fix this and finally ended up doing this: Leave a tail on the thread of about 4-5 inches (don't cut it in the last step on the cassette).....hold that tail until the cassette starts going down and the little arm comes out with the thread in it....this is how I thread mine every time and now it's just habit I don't even think about it.

I can not get the monogramming to work on my 270d machine, the thread is just not getting into the material. I also want to know how to change the size of letters? is that availble to do on this machine?

Hi - welcome to FixYa. I have this machine, and unfortunately, the cassettes can break. If the threader worked when you first got your machine, I would suggest buying a new cassette (even if your threader is working). A second cassette is very handy because you can thread your next color in the extra cassette before the machine stops for the next color change - when the machine does stop, just put in the second cassette, and thread the other with the next color - speeds things up alot. And, if one of the cassettes does break, you aren't sitting in a puddle waiting for a new one.. You can find the thread cassettes for sale on a variety of sites - this is where I buy mine:

Some of the 270Ds came with a spool pin - look in your manual for a picture and for the instructions for installing and using the spool pin. You can use it for spool of thread that are too large for the cassette and I think you can leave it installed on your machine all the time. If you don't have your manual, leave a comment and I'll look mine and check the instructions.

Hope this helps. If you have a minute, a rating (good or bad) tells me if the information or solution I provide is helpful to anyone who visits FixYa.

The needle threader on my embroidery machine is no longer working.

There's a possibility of it being related. I would need more information though.

When I push down on the thread cartridge, it won't go all the way in and then the threader pops back up. This has never happened before.

Lets start with this. Make sure your presser foot is up and the needle bar is in the up position aswell. Also make sure that the thread spool is the right size for the caset.

A bent needle will cause this. Otherwise the shuttle is out of time, have it serviced..

Brother ns-50 threader

Did you try to physically move it to the position? I had to do that on my machine and it works now.

Threading the needle of the embroidery machine

You may need a magnifying glass to see the tiny hook that should pass through the needle eye to catch the thread....

....if it is not aligned properly and does not go through the eye you will need to realign it....

...there may be a small screw attaching the mechanism, loosen slightly with jewelers screwdriver so you can move it but there is still some friction and gently engage the needle threader to see how far you need to move it, then gently, using a fine screwdriver, tweesers etc, nudge the tiny hook a little, check result and continue to adjust until remedied....re-tighten screw.

If there is no screw adjustment, a gentle bending will resolve the problem............but if there is no tiny hook, it will need replacing.

They are not easily broken, but only use gentle pressure to be sure.

Brother SE 270D Cassette threader

I too have a christmas gift causing headaches - loopy embroidery. But at least this one I found a work around for... I thread the cassette according to the arrows but when I get to "6" I loop up around the left side and over the top of the bend but DON'T go far enough to cut the thread. I leave about 4 or 5 inches loose and hold the end at the top-right of the thread cassette at about the 2 o'clock position. I push the cassette down into the machine normally and right about when the 6 is below the window the thread will cut leaving you holding the left over piece. Continue pushing down until click and needle will thread. Have not had any threading problems since learning to leave a tail on the thread. Hope this helps.
