Lenovo z560 automutes

This computer mutes on it's own randomly and continuously over the course of the last few months. Researched to find what it to be called a "launchboard failure." I don't know how to fix this.

  • Anonymous Jan 01, 2013

I've reformatted the computer, reinstalled all drivers. The last thing I haven't done is updating bios which the computer does not allow me to do.

Launchboard is the panel with buttons situated over your keyboard. If some kind of conductive dirt, fluid or water came inthere, it will short out the keys and "press" them giving you that problem. Try to clean the board with alcohol.

  • Anonymous Jan 03, 2013

Wiping the surface with alcohol or should I remove the whole cover and then wipe it?

  • Anonymous Jan 03, 2013

Try just wiping the visible parts of the panel and see what happens. If this does not help, you need to remove the panel, referring to the manual from Lenovo, how to take it aparthttp://goo.gl/mbJdQ

SOURCE: I have a lenovo ideapad

Hi,

Welcome to FixYa!

This may cause by an electrical charge in the motherboard itself,Im not really sure how it affects the display of the computer. There's also a possibility that the problem is with the LCD cable or the LCD itself. Please follow this method since it usually fix such problem like that,

1.Removed the battery then unplugged the AC adapter

2.Press and hold the power button or the ON/OFF button for at least 30 seconds

3.Connect the power supply back to your computer then turn it back on.

4. Check if you will see any difference.

5. If nothing happens, try to press and hold Fn and F2 on the keyboard.

If nothing happens, there is a possibility that the problem is with the LCD or monitor itself, maybe it will need a replacement...

I hope this information will be helpful. Thank you for using FixYa...

SOURCE: how do i enter supervisor password on my lenovo

Step 1: Enter Safe Mode

a)Start or re-start your computer.

b)Before the Windows 7 loading screen appears, Press 'F8? to enter Advanced Boot Options.

c)Use arrows to choose 'Safe Mode' when you can see the Advanced Boot Options screen.

d)Press 'Enter' and wait for Windows 7 files to load.

e)Log on with an administrator account when you can see the log on screen

Note: Well, when you are presented with the Advanced Boot Options screen, there are 3 types of Safe Mode. They are the Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Networking and Safe Mode with Command Prompt, and the 3 options are all available for you. Here above we take Safe Mode as an example, but if you choose Safe Mode with Command Prompt, you'll need to input related to command prompt to reset the password.

Step 2: Reset the forgotten Windows login password in Windows 7

Now you could diagnose and solve some serious computer problems in the safe mode and reset the forgotten Windows login password in Windows 7 as follows:

1.Click 'Start' button, input 'lusrmgr.msc' into the Search box and press 'Enter'.

2.In the 'Local Users and Groups screen', click 'Users'.

3.Right-click the account that you need to reset the password for, and then click 'Set Password'.

4.Type and confirm the new password, click 'OK'. (You can go to 'Local Users and Groups' screen by right-clicking 'Computer' to select 'Manage' on desktop.)

Step 3: Log on your password protected PC again with the new password since you have successfully performed Windows password reset for Windows 7.

Lenovo Ideapad Z570: Battery indicator shows the Power is plugged in & charging. But the Battery charge percentage doesn't increase. How to fix this?

The battery might be nearing the end of it's useful life and needs to be replaced. The battery only lasts for so long then it has to be replaced.

Buy a battery on ebay base on your computer's Make and model, not the model of the battery.

A sudden drop from 50% to 7% means that the battery is faulty, it is simply a case where it is not holding any charge. I would suggest you contact the seller and check if the battery is under warranty. Hope this helps and good luck.Any question please feel free to ask.
