JVC DR-MV5S DVD Recorder / VCR Combo Resets During Recording

I own the above dvd burner and encountered this problem. During the recording process onto a blank DVD, the unit now stops recording, flashes RESET for about a minute then shuts off, thereby ruining the blank disc. I have used the machine to burn off around 1000 movies, so it has been used heavily. Does this have anything to do with the problem, or is this a technical issue with this model? I love this burner, so it would be great if a resolution can be found, where I can have the unit repaired. If this is an issue where I could take the unit to any dvd burner repair place and not have to send it off to the manufacturer, that would be even better. Thanks for your time in researching this issue.

OK after some research I would say your drive mechinisim is worn out and needs replaced (this is why it flashes reset because the drive needs to spin at a constant proper speed to read/write the disks) I would go to www.jvc.com click customer suport then click find a service center near you and they will tell you the closest place to you to send or take in for repair!
I would not take it to just anyone because JVC carries the origanil parts and they know thier products better then any one else!
I hope my research helps you a great deal!

Does the JVC DR-MV5S DVD recorder/VCR combo unit have an analog tuner or digital tuner, so that you can record one channel while watching a different channel on your TV?

You can read what JVC is telling about the recorder. It is not an digital tuner, but still you can record a DVD and watch another channel or vice versa.

Region free DVD code for JVC DR MV5 VHS/DVD combo

Hi,

Why don't you just go get another DVD that plays all region.

Its pays. It is not certain that you will get the code for free. I have done a little research but seem not to find any code for your player.

To save your self the stress, get an all region DVD player.

All the best.

I have a JVC DR-MV5S. When I dub a VHS to DVD,

The disk must be finalized. Instructions are on page 79 of the instruction booklet for the MV5S. I can't get the manual to download from the MVC site, but maybe it will work later. Hopefully you have the manual.

DVD Recorder/VCR combo shuts down during DVD recording

If the device is still under warranty then it is worth calling and getting a repair/replacement. If not, then go with the new unit. it sounds like the one you have was not a very good unit to begin with. make sure you read the consumer reports on new available units before buying, so as to avoid buying another lemon.
