The appliance repair man has put three different thermal switches in it, they keep blowing. He suggested our venting was plugged. Has a duct cleaner come and he found no problems. The last time it was changed out we left the dryer venting into the house. Lasted a day and blew again.
I have the last one in front of me, it does not appear to be resettable. The numbers on it are B-3 140 5176 it also has a purple dot on it.I have the last one in front of me, it does not appear to be resettable. The numbers on it are B-3 140 5176 it also has a purple dot on it.

ok ..now i understend you..but you dont understand,,me...so to check take that thermostat that you have in your hand,,and test it for contiuntiy..i bet its good...but the problem at hand its no heat..im going to give you the part number that you need..6931EL3003C.also if you keep burning out the thermostat, you have a air flow problem,,you said all vents where cleaned,,then you must take a look at your blower wheel..either lose or defective..check pull back vent off and make sure you hav a harsh flow of air there with or with out heat,,if it feels weak we found thet problem..keep mev postedok ..now i understend you..but you dont understand,,me...so to check take that thermostat that you have in your hand,,and test it for contiuntiy..i bet its good...but the problem at hand its no heat..im going to give you the part number that you need..6931EL3003C.also if you keep burning out the thermostat, you have a air flow problem,,you said all vents where cleaned,,then you must take a look at your blower wheel..either lose or defective..check pull back vent off and make sure you hav a harsh flow of air there with or with out heat,,if it feels weak we found thet problem..keep mev posted

The THERMAL Switch is detecting values higher than normal. This is to keep your dryer from over heating and causing a fire. This feature is a PROTECTION built into the dryer circuit and indicates you have a bad dryer heater needing replacement. At some point, you may be blowing a circuit breaker which is the second line of defense. Rather than having a FIRE...get a repair man to fix the Dryer NOW!
sure..this is actually a back pressure issue...when you used the twisty flexible hose, there is less reverse back pressure..
so, with the thermal mass from a 90 degree turn, it's most likely causing a heated air back flash, making the thermostat work harder, shortening it's life..
you might want to consider putting an inline fan, past the 90 degree turn(internal to the vent pipe) and let that exhaust the air at that point, instead of allowing thermal convection to be the sole propeller for this setup.
You need to replace the operating thermostat along with the thermal fuse. This thermostat controls temperature in the drum and if it fails, it will just put out heat constantly without regard to temperature. Be sure to check the exhaust vent in the house walls to make sure they're cleaned. Good luck
It could be the heating element, but it could also be the thermal switch, a round button that can sense the heat. One of the wires that go to the heating element go through the thermal switch. It's held on by two screw and is an easy repair.
You need to check the "Thermal fuse","thermal cut-off" and "high-limit thermostat". Check all three with a multimeter for continuity. Replace as needed.
Sounds like the heater element is bad that is the main cause for them not to heat up . Their should be a cover on the back that comes off and you can get to the heater element after removing it .
It appears so. Plugged dryer vent should not cause a problem with control board. Good service tech should be able to use a cordless drill powered brush to clean entire length of vent, providing the vent is not the flex plastic ****. A simple clamp on amp meter test would confirm the dryer element (electric model) to be working. I'd advise you to turn your dryer on and see if you have a strong flow of air out of the outside dryer vent cap. (outside the house, where the bird nest was) Sounds like you could possibly use a new dryer vent cap, with a bird screen cover and a large 4 inch flap. (not the low profile 2 inch flap)
