How to thread

Makesure the needle is in the machine correctly- all the way up into the needlebar, make sure that it is threaded correctly, etc. If this all checks out ok,take the bobbin case out of the machine. There are two ears on either side ofthe bobbin case- turn the left one to the left and the right one to the right.Remove the silver ring, and inspect the piece of metal that the ring came off of(looks like a circle with the top cut off). You have to locate the hook whichis the piece that looks like a half moon inside the big round metal piece.Locate the tip of it, turn the hand wheel toward you until the needle is in thelowest position, at this point the tip of the hook should be flush with top ofthe left side of the cut off circle. Checkwhether underneath thread is looping on the fabric. If so then you've mis-threadedthe top, probably haven't raised the presser foot when threading so you can getthe upper thread into the tension. You need to thread the upper part with thepresser foot up. (You can put it down to thread the needle.)

Not picking up thread can be several issues, like bobbin is miswound, bobbincase isn't snapped in properly, you're using the wrong type bobbin, machine isout of time, needle is bent or burred, machine is dirty and in need of dustbunny eviction and a little oil but most of the time the issue is once againmisthreading: sewing machine needles have a front and a back and they have tobe placed in the needle holder correctly. In that case your manual is needed, take all the thread offthe machine (yes, spool off the spool pin, bobbin out of the bobbin case), pullthe needle plate and clean your machine thoroughly, using brush and vacuum (notcompressed air) and oiling per the instruction manual. Put it all backtogether, putting in a 80/12 needle, correctly oriented. Hang on to theneedle thread when you fetch up the bobbin thread.

Each and every seam you start is going to be done this way:
1) Pull the tail of the top and bobbin thread behind the presser foot
2) Put the work under the needle and use the hand wheel to lower the needleinto the work
3) Drop the presser foot
4) Holding the thread tails behind the foot, take a couple of stitches.
5) Drop the thread tails and sew normally. Hope this will help you. Good Luck.

Hi. My guess would be no. Sounds more like an upper or needle thread tension problem than a lower or bobbin thread tension problem. Your trouble could also be the thread take-up lever was missed when threading the machine. Trace the thread path to make sure the threading is correct. Is this an embroidery machine? If not, were you trying make a darning stitch? Perhaps with the foot raised? Keep in mind that raising the foot loosens the upper thread tension.

Hi. Correct threading of your machine is absolutely essential for flawless function. I would suggest starting fresh, removing upper thread completely. For correct function, every threading point needs to be passed in the correct order. Every hole or thread guide should have thread going through it. Use a tweezer and pass the end of the cotton through each point, paying special attention to the tension discs and take-up lever. Double check to make sure you have light but firm tension on the thread (having lowered the presser foot, because tension is released when foot is up). Rotate the hand wheel slowly in it's normal direction to check function before attempting to sew.

i went on line on how to thread an industrial machine and the the bobbin is the opposite of a regular machine. when handleing the bobbin have it so the thread is going down the right side so it looks like a number nine.hope this helps

Look for the row of straight vertical lines. This is the straight stitch. There will also be a number dial for stitch length. Use a piece of scrap to find the length of stitch you want. Make sure you have the bottom feed lever or button activated. This will operate the textured plates that come up from underneath to move the material forward or reverse. Also, make sure you drop the presser foot lever before you start. Hold both threads, manually lower the needle to the first stitch starting point and use the pedal from there on. When you press the pedal, you can let go of the threads.

Try to repair in this order.

1) Your machine likely needs oil. Especially put a few drops of oil on the outside edge of your bobbin holder.

2) Try replacing your needle if you have some spares. If you are using a decorative thread (metalized) use a needle with a teflon lining on the eye (called metallic thread needle).

3) Try buying a better quality thread. Do not use generic thread in a sewing machine (i.e. "made in cheap country" with no brand name)

It would appear to be threaded wrongly. Pull all the threads out, check the visible upper tension discs for broken threads then re-thread top and bobbin, making sure the pressure foot is up when you re-thread. Bobbins should normally turn clockwise when the tail of the thread is pulled. Make sure thread has gone under the tension spring.
Oddly enough, a blunt needle can occasionally cause this problem so if all else fails try changing the needle. Good luck

Sounds like you are trying to thread a serger or overlock. I would be helpful if you offered up the model number. However, a few things I've learned.

Sergers MUST be threaded in ORDER. Failure to do so will break your looper (had it happen)

In other words if you break one of the 4 or 5 threads... you have to un-thread all the other points and begin with Thread 1, then do thread 2, etc., etc.,

If you would give me the Make and model number of your serger... I will be happy to see if I can find your manual and threading guide for you.

You have to do the first stitch using the handwheel so that the top thread catches under the bobbin thread and then you can pull the top thread which will bring up the bobbin thread. put both threads to back of machine. Now you can sew.

Every time you re-thread you need to do this.

open the bobbin case and see if the hook is turning, if it is it is just a timing problem with the hook and needle, if it isn't tuning you may have a broken gear or timing belt.....It eill need to be looked at or adj by someone who repairs them....Daniel
