Why do i have loud noises coming from my washing machine only whilst it spins

The bearing in the drum has failed and it's always noiier as it spins faster as there is more debris being thrown around inside the hardened steel casing of the bearing. Bad news is that's a write off. Uneconomical repair. It will tear its self apart shortly, probably leaking grease into the wash and leaving black marks everywhere, oor the drive belt will come off, or the drum will impact the front gasket and fill the drum with smoke. Any way you look at it, it's almost certainly going to destroy a load of washing. Throw it away now before it wrecks your washing

During spin cycle the washer makes a loud thumping noise. Not a clanging/sharp noise. When I manually turn drum it sounds like something is loose inside. Like a ball may sound inside drum as it turns.

Is it a front loader? You may have something stuck between the tubs or it may be a broken "paddle" One of the plastic baffles that move the clothes around in the tub. they should all be tightly against the tub.

Washing machine makes a clanging sound during agitation/spin

Without being there to physically see what it's doing or hear the sound, I would say there's 3 possibilities. 1) drive block is slipping on basket drive / brake assembly. 2) basket drive assembly is worn where drive block seats onto it. 3) clutch slipping.

Loud noise during spin cycle

this is my experience repairing the maytag washer Atlantis mav series 9750 aww, I had to replace the spin bearing since it was making a jet engine noise when it was spinning out the water. its not an easy job for my 1st time taking this machine apart, you literally take it all apart to get to this bearing, but now I can show how to do it with pictures making it easier for you to do it. even if you have to replace something other than the spin bearing, this how to tutorial will show you how to get to most of the parts in this machine
