After reading a bit online I almost think one of my motor speeds has failed. I suppose the switch on the side may be the culprit. What I can not find is how to enter a field service / diagnostic mode where I can test the speeds individually. Does anyone know how to get into that mode and what I need to test the two speeds?
I would check to be sure the micro switch on the door lid is actually closing the circuit. A click does not always mean the switch is working properly.
Most if not all washers have three phase motor fitted for the purpose of the torque that is required but will only run
on three phase electric supply , and so these motors are
externally fitted with capacitor and run on the principle of three phase , but once these capacitors start to brake down the electric motor fail to run .
you may have a capacitor doing down
SOURCE: Squealing noise during spin cycle
The spin cycle activates the fast mode on the motor, squealing normal occurs due to belt slippage. I would check your belts (look for cracks. Check the belt tension as well, most washers have an adjustment, normally on the motor that allows you to increase the tension of the belt.

check to see if the tub has any side to side play to start then pull the motor and check the coupling the clicking is whats confusing

HI It sounds like the spin basket drive is going bad. If it was the lid switch, you would get no sound. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Thanks

SOURCE: Loud dry sounding spin cycle
I had the same problem with mine. The noise was verry loud towards the end...2 years I was a happy camper with my top of the line Cabrio, and then started to do the noise, a friend who work on washers told me that it was the transmission and to let it bust it self and then fix it. I have a home service warranty that covers the washer and they send a tech to fix it, he fix the problem with the transmission but now I have a problem of UL Unbalance Load all the time and I have to be moving the cloth around and move the knob to drain and spin all the time to get the the machine to drain the water. good luck with your problem

Check the U joint. Its located under the agitator. Its the most common problem with the older calypsos.

There is no diagnostic mode on this one. If it is the motor clicking most common is just a loose connection on thr motor connector.
