Clicking sound, motor starts during spin cycle and stops almost immediately.

After reading a bit online I almost think one of my motor speeds has failed. I suppose the switch on the side may be the culprit. What I can not find is how to enter a field service / diagnostic mode where I can test the speeds individually. Does anyone know how to get into that mode and what I need to test the two speeds?

There is no diagnostic mode on this one. If it is the motor clicking most common is just a loose connection on thr motor connector.

I would check to be sure the micro switch on the door lid is actually closing the circuit. A click does not always mean the switch is working properly.

Most if not all washers have three phase motor fitted for the purpose of the torque that is required but will only run
on three phase electric supply , and so these motors are
externally fitted with capacitor and run on the principle of three phase , but once these capacitors start to brake down the electric motor fail to run .
you may have a capacitor doing down

SOURCE: Squealing noise during spin cycle

The spin cycle activates the fast mode on the motor, squealing normal occurs due to belt slippage. I would check your belts (look for cracks. Check the belt tension as well, most washers have an adjustment, normally on the motor that allows you to increase the tension of the belt.

HI It sounds like the spin basket drive is going bad. If it was the lid switch, you would get no sound. Let me know if I can assist you further.

SOURCE: Loud dry sounding spin cycle

I had the same problem with mine. The noise was verry loud towards the end...2 years I was a happy camper with my top of the line Cabrio, and then started to do the noise, a friend who work on washers told me that it was the transmission and to let it bust it self and then fix it. I have a home service warranty that covers the washer and they send a tech to fix it, he fix the problem with the transmission but now I have a problem of UL Unbalance Load all the time and I have to be moving the cloth around and move the knob to drain and spin all the time to get the the machine to drain the water. good luck with your problem

Amana lwa40aw noise during spin cycle

It's possible that the loud and fast clicking noise is being caused by the driven wheel skipping, which could indicate a problem with the transmission or clutch assembly. The motor speed at spin cycle initiation could also be related to these components.
One possibility is that the clutch is worn and not engaging properly, which could cause the driven wheel to skip and make a clicking noise. Another possibility is that the transmission is worn or damaged, which could also cause these symptoms.
It's also possible that the motor speed control is malfunctioning, which could cause the motor to run at an incorrect speed during the spin cycle. This could contribute to the belt wear issue you experienced.
I would recommend contacting a professional appliance repair technician to diagnose and repair the issue, as it may require disassembly of the machine and specialized tools to properly diagnose and fix.

During the spin cycle it started making a whining

it must be motor run away condition. motor must have exceeded its design speed and the internal windings must have parted off. you did the right thing. but, when your son switched on again, it would have run for few minutes with all internal extra friction and stopped with burnt smell. you have lost the motor. but, before replacing the motor get the speed control system checked.

Clicking sound on Washer Spin Cycle

You are quite correct in thinking that it is the motor brushes that are worn.
You need to remove the motor and replace the brushes.
This will solve your problem.
Good luck.

Loud clicking during spin, won't spin full speed

manofred, you either have something in your pump or the coupler is starting to break up. Tip the washer back and take a look. See if there is a bunch of black debris under the trans. If so, your coupler is failing. The pump will come off with 2 clips and 2 clamps. Check to see if something is in the impeller. Check the attachments....Catriver...post back.
