Unscrew the knob on the bottom(turn cc wise) pull bobbin straight out . To restring pull start rope gently to see what direction it turns and wrap string in the opposite direction. Re insert the string into the corresponding hole(s) and screw up knob by hand until tight.

Black decker weed trimmer

Hi Ken, If your spools are emptying by over feeding it sounds as if they are spooled the wrong way. Try re spooling one by putting the cord on the opposite way it is now. You may be getting the wrong spools or there is a fault with your trimmer.

Look under Operating Instructions....Spool and Line Replacement. This model is probably same as yours in that regard. Diagrams and instructions are included.

My Balck&Decker Grasshog won't automatically feed line.

Just replace the LEVER, Item #29, Part #598435-00, for about $3.00 (B&D, Dewalt). Just pull old level straight out (pliers) and push replacement in. Level end expands to hold it in place. No other parts. Forget cleaning and replacement the spool, graphite or oiling... just replace the lever.

Black and decker grass hog electric weed eater won't feed string

I bought the electric grasshog trimmer. Worst investment I ever made on Garden supplies. The line is completely gong within ten feet of trimming. I've used it four times and gone through twenty spools. In the trash now.

Auto feed spool doesn't work

You may need to purchase a new spool housing, which may not be too hard to do, if you have one of the name brand trimmers. This replaces the whole mechanism that holds the line, the retaining ring, etc.
