SOURCE: Belkin N1 Router connection drops when phone rings

You may have a phone line connected from the modem to a wall outlet. Count the number of cables coming out of your modem - you should have only three: the power cable (connects to the wall), Cat 5 (also connects to the wall), and ethernet (running from the modem to the router).

have you tried turning off Wireless Zero Configuration

Go to Start | Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Services

Scroll down to Wireless Zero Configuration, right clicking properties, and Stopping the service in Service Status.

Do this on all the Pcs,

If this solves the problem, turn off Wireless Zero Configuration permanently by changing Startup type to Disabled

SOURCE: belkin wireless router

Hi,

Your Belkin router is normally configured to get a dynamic IP Add from your Internet provider unless otherwise configured. Most ISP's network where clients/subscribers connect (through DSL) has a DHCP server that hands out this IP adds. If your router keeps on changing its WAN IP add, it may presumably be because:
1. Your router keeps on rebooting or powering on/off and everytime it turns on, it is given a new IP add;
2. Your ISP's DHCP server keeps on renewing its lease on the IP add given to your router.

Corrective measures would entail:
a. Do a full hard reset of your router and go through the installation setup again. Of course this would revert all settings/configuration to factory default; and/or
b. Contact your ISP and explain your concern.

In some cases, the router's MAC address has an issue that the ISP's DHCP is keeping a hard time recognizing it. this can be corrected with a firmware update.

Hope this be of help/idea. Pls post back how things tunrs up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kin regards.

SOURCE: wireless ready laptop not getting connected to internet through belkin router

You may want to check if the wireless switch is "ON"
on the laptop most wireless ready laptops has either a
button or toggle switch to enable the wireless radio..
if it's already enabled and you still cant connect to
the wireless network, try changing the wireless channel
from the router.

I have a 2wire and a wireless router Belkin34e. I cannot get the preception I need to watch my movienite streaming media player. I have a tv upstairs and downstairs and the preception is poor for bothl.

The best is to use an Ethernet cable. But if you cant wire up you will need that one of your device be downstairs. In order to do it you need to configure one of them as an access point bridging one router to the other.Or get a Wireless Extender that is a hardware devices that act as either bridges, allowing you to connect a wired device to a Wi-Fi network without need for additional cabling or networking configuring, or they act as repeaters, extending a wireless signal beyond the normal bounds of range.

My Belkin N750 DB intermittently drops my internet connection to both wireless and ethernet connected devices. I POR it and it works fine until the next time it quits. Is there a fix or is this just an...

Some people turn everything off at night and then when they turn things back on everything starts powering up. If you do this, it may be the problem because you have the modem and the router starting up at the same time. If the router finishes before the modem then it will drop.

Just make sure that you turn your wireless router on after the modem had booted up. This problem also happens when you have a power outage in the house and they both boot up at the same time.

When ever you are experiencing drops, just go unplug the wireless router then plug it back after about 30 seconds.

Belkin N750 DB wireless connection drop

There are a few things thatcan cause you to lose wireless connection with your wireless router.1. Weak signal strength, check the signal strength on your wireless card. If it is weak move thewireless router away from brick or concrete walls and if possible locatethe wireless router higher up.2. Have you secured yourwireless router from people near your from unauthorized access? i.e. change thedefault password, setup encryption use WPA2 or WPA, change the default SSID,and turn off SSID broadcast, and for added protection, enable MAC addressfiltering which allows only the MAC address/es of your wireless card/s toconnect to your wireless router.3. You could be gettinginterference from electrical sources such as air conditioners, arc welders, washing machines etc. If so, the power supply to the wireless routers andcomputers etc should be connected to a surge protection power board, betterstill connect your computer equipment to an UPS (Uninterrupted PowerSupply). 4. Check the channels ofthe wireless routers and access points in your area and change the broadcastchannel on your wireless router to an unused channel or one that is currentlyused but has the weakest signal strength. This will minimize interferencewith your wireless router from other wireless routers and accesspoints in your area.

My downloads are extremely slow and the movies i watch online keep pausing now and then.

For the most part all networking equipment minus Cisco use the same industry wide standards to communicate so there should not be an issue with mixing gear. Most likely your simply downloading during peak times. Are you using wireless or a wired connection to the router? This can have an impact on your speed, are more than one person using the network at the same time this can also affect performance. Also periodically go to http://www.speedtest.net and check your download speeds you should notice that at peak times your speed will be reduced simply because more people in your area are on the internet at the same time using up more of the ISP's available bandwidth

My belkin N router always disconnects on the internet. im sure its not a modem issue coz when i try to restart my router its connected again to the internet. my belkin router model is f5d8233-4v3....

Disconnections are generally relative to the Internet Provider and Speed. If the speed drops, the router can disconnect and reboots. Just make certain you always update all drivers and especially if you are in Windows, keep up with current updates. Check your device drivers and do update from there also.

MY ROUTER KEEPS LOSING CONNECTION

Hello fieldon68, & to all the rest with the same problem.

There are many things that could be wrong, but intermittant discounnects sounds very much like a interverance from another wireless device. (ie phone, cell, etc)

To try to address this issue, follow the steps below:
Note : The steps below are applicable only for Belkin routers.
  1. Open an Internet Explorer window on your computer and type in http://192.168.2.1 in the address bar. This will take you to the Belkin router's web based configuration page. If you are not able to open the page click here.
  2. You will get a login page. Leave the password blank. Click Submit ( unless you created a password, then enter that).
  3. On the left side of the page, click Channel and SSID below Wireless .
  4. The wireless channel on the Belkin router is set to Auto by defualt. Change the wireless to a static channel. Click Apply Changes .
  5. Click Logout in the top right hand corner.
Note: The wireless card in the computer will automatically detect the change in channel number on the router and will update the channel on the card.
CauseYou get disconnected wirelessly mainly due to an environmental interference. When the wireless channel is set to auto, the router will cycle to though channels when it detects significant interference. When the router changes channel the wireless connection will reset itself and disconnect all wireless clients connected to the router. Wireless signals are prone to interference from cordless phones and electrical appliances (e.g., vacuum cleaners, microwave ovens). This is one of the more popular reasons Belkin wireless connections can drop. Good Luck Mark P.S. Please leave a rating.
