One thing that isn't mentioned anywhere is the modem has to be in bridge mode. I was told this by a Linksys tech after doing all that was documented in the references article. I contacted my internet provider and they told me how to set the modem to bridge mode. This corrected the PPPoE error.

hi! check first the wireless settings of your router, it may be set only to connect wireless n adpater, u have to set it on all wireless, b,g,n, if the settings is not set to all u will not able to use ur ipod touch to connect, I bliv ipod touch wireless adapter is wireless g. check also the wireless security settings if ssid is not broadcast, make it broadcast or if u dont like to broadcast it, just remember the ssid and try to check as well the wireless settings of ur ipod touch..

Sadly, this router has horrible reviews and is known for this problem:

Can you return it for another model?
Can you getLinksys to replace it?
the best one is the LINKSYS WRT54GL, but if you are stuck with the one you have...
If you have tried all these things and you are very brave (or don't care if you need to buy another router) why not try flashing it with an after market O/S?
