Card reader can read my CF-card, but Camera can't read it. When I turn on the camera it shows me screensaver for a minute, after that it shows black screen for a minute and then it shows me "no image" and "memory card error"
When I set the viewfinder mood, camera turns on, and it shows me the viewfinder with "memory card error"
I tried to format the card with card-reader and with Camera... Nothing changed...
I've forgotten to say, that camera does not format the card. When I choose this option (format CF) it shows me "busy" and the camera turns off. As I understand, camera can't format this card. Do not ever format a card.,any card via a computer
That does it in. For camera use it will not be recognised.
Put the card in the card reader and if there is anything at all on it delete it.
Try to reformat in the camera again- failing that -new card.

Don't know what kind of camera you have, so it's hard to give specific detailed help.
If your camera uses CF memory cards, you probably have bent pins in the card reader.
If your camera doesn't use CF memory, then you most likely have a problem with the mainboard (like a motherboard) of the camera and it needs to be replaced. You can look online for a used camera and pull the board yourself to do the repair, or send it in to a shop like ours and have it done for you.
install the card, turn the camera on, go into the menu and find format. It will tell you that when you format you will also erase the contents of the SD card. Click yes and format the card. Thats it. Joe
Hi there follow the steps below.
1. Remove the card from the camera.
2. Make sure the card is unlocked. That lock key
present in side of the memory card.
3. fix it back in camera.
4. format the card from the camera. You can get the
option for format from camera settings pressing
after menu key.
5. After finish the format, restart the camera.
6. Now you can see that message has gone & its
start working. If you face the same problem then
the memory card is damaged or the camera card
reader is damaged. I hope you will not faced those
problems. Please let me know the result. If you
want to know more then ask me again .Thanks.
i think the memory card that you are holding has gone bad
just to confirm this try connecting the card using a card reader to the PC and while at it, change the output of the camera to the other card (CF/XD) and try to check if this workssss
If you are not able to find your connecting cable. Well what you can do is you can take out the memory card and fix it into the card reader (you will get a card reader vey cheap anywhere.). and connect it to your comp.
Now your card will work as a flash drive and format the card once.
May be you got a corrupted card.
Hope this helps you out.. :))
Can you read the card in your camera? If you cannot read the card in the camera...wow and ouch. Try to get the card to a friend or someone who can read the CF. Then see if they can read the card.
Hate to say it, but with an error like that, it may mean that the CF card is not working.
Are you trying to read the CF card on a reader on the computer? Try your usb cable to the computer instead of the reader.
It is possible that the driver has become corrupted for the reader on the computer. Try the above, see what happens.
The camera body has a tiny switch marked "CF" in one position and Sony's "memory stick" symbol in the other.
Apparently I accidentally reset the switch from "memory stick" to "CF" while slipping the camera body into (or out of) its carrying-case.
Once I had set this switch from "CF" back to the "memory stick" position, everything worked fine.
Solution: read the user's manual more carefully next time!!
Hi Chittu,
This error usually happens when there's problem reading and writing from the Flash memory card (CF).
Did you try to pull the memory card before the camera finished writing data?
Here's what you should do - try using another memory card. If it works, it means that the original one is damaged.
Let me know if this helped.
