Where does the rubber membrane go when tiling a bathroom floor
I am re-tiling my bathroom floor with ceramic tile. The sub floor is wood and I have the following supplies: cement board, tiles, silicone caulking, TEC full set plus, and TEC power grout 550, and this orange sheet of rubber membrane. I don't understand where this membrane goes (between the subfloor and CMB, or between the CMB and tiles). Second, how is it adhered to the floor, with screws or between layers of thin set? Can somebody please help me out?
Re: Where does the rubber membrane go when tiling a...
Tiles on wooden floors will always move and crack the grout/tiling cement
therefore the rubber membrane goes down first with out nails and then everything is laid on top
that way when the wooden floor moves , there is a water proof membrane to prevent the water from rotting the wood over time
They probably use wrong adhesive that is not hard yet and have tenedency under pressure to squeze out between grout lines. Yes they need to address the problem immediately.

I would try breaking the tile up with hammer instead of prying from side, as you maybe chip or crack adjoining tiles. This method should work fine, you may loosen surrounding tiles but just re-mortar any tiles that may become loose. Wear eye protection. Good luck
