Hold "function (fn)", and "F7"... F7 should have a pic of a finger touching something...

Acer aspire 1642 frozen mouse

Connect an external USB mouse to get at least the cursor to work, then download the latest touch pad drivers from Acer's site

Check that you have not disabled the mouse pad (FN and F7?)

If that fails, you may need to dismantle the laptop and check the small ribbon cable that connects the touch pad to the motherboard has not come adrift.

After that it looks like physical failure of the trackpad / touch pad assembly

Acer aspire 5520 mouse pointer problem it freezes or moves around the screen by itself

Glad to HELP YOU!

First of all try to clean your touch pad with a SOFT CLOTH gently soaked in a GLASS CLEANER fluid. Make that as good as you can and you will remove all the dirst that may occur during the function of your computer, generating "fake movements" of the cursor.
Second: go to
START > CONTROL PANEL > MOUSE icon > DEVICE SETTINGS
and disable touch pad or check box to hide cursor while you are typing.

GOOD LUCK!

Touch pad stoped working, keydoard stoped too.

there is a wide wire under the surface of keyboard that connects keyboard (and touch pad) with whole laptop.
i think one of the small cables of that wire is cut.
so take the laptop to a warranty center and explain the problem.

"Tapping" has dissapeared from Mouse section in Control Panel

ok, im not sure how into the settings you have explored, but here is one way to enable the tapping again, select control panel, go to printers and other hardware, next select mouse, next select the last tab on the page that pops up, click settings, then you should see a page that shows settings for your installed device, i think the second option down should say "tapping" click the check box to enable... hope this helps!

Acer aspire 5315

On your model, Function and F7 pressed together turn the pad on and off. Note that you can also advance the selected button or control with the TAB key and go back to the previous control with CTRL-TAB (space or enter selects) so you don't actually have to have the touch pad working to control Windows.

Acer aspire 5520 startup problem

Michelle-

I had the same problem with the cursor jumping around. My cousin bought the same computer and had the same problem! What she told me to do was go to the touchpad icon on the bottom right. Then click tapping and then check the box that says "tap off when typing."
It seems to have worked for us.
