How to test the heating element on a Maytag Dryer. If you Maytagdryer is running but not heating these are what you need to check. ... The dryer runs but does not heat. .... Not heating Maytag electric dryer - Duration: 19:38.
any time a pump over heats and stops running is
A. the pump is bad.
B. the float is stuck and the pump is causing it self to run and run until it over heats and shuts down.
C. Something is clogged in the pump and restricting the flow and causing the pump to work harder and over heat and shut down.
D. the check valve is bad, stuck closed, something stuck in check vavle.
Check the following to address this non heating issue
1. No power to the dryer
Make sure there's power getting to the dryer. Check for tripped circuit breakers or blown fuses.
An electric dryer uses two circuit breakers or fuses, and if only
one of two is tripped or blown, the dryer might still run but not
heat. Sometimes the power cord disconnects or burns at the dryer, if
this is the case, the wiring and the terminal block must be repaired
or replaced.
2. Heating element
A burned out heating element will show no continuity when measured
with a meter. Replace the element if found defective.
3. Thermal fuse
Most dryers have a thermal fuse, which burns out when the dryer
overheats, in which case the dryer will either not run at all or
stop heating. The fuse is usually located on the vent duct, inside the
dryer. A blown fuse will show no continuity when measured with a
meter. Before replacing the fuse, make sure the blower wheel is not
broken or clogged, and there is nothing blocking the venting.
The first thing you should check on a electric dryer when it does not heat or run is the voltage at the cord.
If you do not have the correct voltage your dryer will not heat and may not even start.
The dryer needs 240 volts for the heater to work. It gets 240 volts by using two 120 volt lines. If one of these 120 volt lines is dead it will not heat. It may or may not still run as the dryer only needs 120 volts for the motor to run.
If you have one 120 volt line missing power and it is the same 120 volt line that runs to the motor then the dryer will not run or heat.
The timer runs thew the heat cycle with no heat it will run forever the heat runs thew the timer and thew thermstats and thermal fuses be for going to the heat elament check for 220volts at the heater if the heater has 220volts to it and not heating the elament is bad
check for continuity in the thermal fuse, also check heating element. make sure you have disconnected the power first. if this is a 220 volt machine make sure you are getting 220 to the machine. if one leg of the voltage has dropped out the motor will run but unit will not heat
