I bought gateway dx4870 ub318. I installed a graphic card but there seem to be a conflict with onboard graphic card. I've checked bios to disable it but there isn't a way to do it. I'm assuming it is done through a mb jumper. Does anyone knows how to disable the onboard graphic card?
You need to contact the Video Card manufacturer if you are getting a black screen during boot. You need a BIOS update for the video card that supports UEFI. I know because I have the same computer and had to do this to get a picture during the POST/BOOT process.
I got mines to work by disabling Secure Boot and enabling the Legacy Boot from the UEFI.
Steps
1. Plug into the motherboard vga slot so that you can see the bios window when you reboot. Make sure that your graphic card is not plugged into the PCI-Ex slot.
2. Follow the instructions on this website to get to your bios screen http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2417361,00.asp and disable the secure boot
3. Then enable legacy boot which should be under Boot Options then hit F10 to save and exit. This should restart your computer.
4. Plug your graphics card back in and run your monitor off it and everything should work.
Hope this helps

Call the card company and ask for bios changes needed . All I had to do was enable legacy
I have the same model and the same problem. I tried different video cards and only a very old 9800 GT worked with the DX4870, but it was blank during the Bios screen and only displayed when windows 8 booted. Don't bother searching the Bios like these other suggestions. That option does not exist.
Enter your Bios then Advanced settings there should be an option to turn of onboard graphics or switch to pci..

OK, is it in Device manager? Have you installed the latest Catalyst Drivers, in fact the FULL pack? Try "Cleaning" the Gold Fingers on the card. There aren't jumpers on the MB, that need moving are there? Are you able to prove the card in another machine?

I know a Asus 7770 2GB works great with this pc. For some reason I couldn't get a Nvdia GTX 650 Ti to work on this computer. I would plug it in I wouldn't get anything on my television or audio. I recomend you purchasing the Asus 7770 2GB because I have it and I can play all my games on Ultra settings including Battle Field 3. Of course you would have to upgrade your power supply to at least 500 watts. Hope this helps, if anyone can solve my 650 Ti issue it would be a big help. Thanks guys I hope you have a great day!

Criss, you would think so but there isn't an option to switch or switch off. I have four other computers that able to disable via bios but this one doesn't have one. It must be a jumper from motherboard but I don't have manual for it.
