In the GPRS setting you have two option
1) stating show G when it is available or when it is connected..
2) Another is Access point, change the access point to aircelgprs.pr..

And try connecting using the dialup number *99***#, it should go online..

This might be because of JAVA platform. usually, JAVA makes the surfing slower. I have one Nokia C2-01. I have tried it on vodafone 3G and it works fabulously. However, I have not tried it for the PC.
