1Put the screwdriver into the screw hole in the small panel on the back of the Leapster. Remove the screw, and open the panel.
2
Remove the batteries from the Leapster and discard them. Find the small "reset" button behind the panel cover. The reset button should be black or red
3
Press the reset button with the pointed object. Hold the button down for about three to five seconds.
4
Put fresh batteries into the battery chamber. Make sure the flat side of each battery connects with the springs in each battery channel. Screw the panel cover back into place.
5
Press the Leapster's "on/off" button. When the Leapster comes on, enter the country information and the player's name.
6
Press the "hint" button, which opens a pop-up help menu. Press the "A" button. Use the stylus to touch the center of the small crosshairs on the screen to calibrate the touch screen.
You have to make sure it is compatible. There are different types of Leapsters. Leapster 1 and 2, Leapster GS, Leapster Explorer and Leappad. Take it back to the store they may give you a refund or store credit.
To open the battery compartments firmly press down on the arrows with your thumbs and push it out. You should feel the cover unlatching as you firmly press down and out.
Hello,
there are three basic reasons why the leapster explorer won't bring out sound.
1. Defective speaker
The speaker of your leapster explorer maybe defective, this can make it not bring out any sound. Disassemble the leapster explorer, check the speaker part, test the speaker with a AA battery. If you hear any sound using the battery, then it means there is nothing wrong with the speaker.
2. Loose wire connection
Disassemble the leapster explorer, check the wires connecting the speaker to the board. Check for any wire cut, or loose connection which can cause the speaker not to bring out sound.
.
3. Sound IC/Card/Board
If non of the above is the cause of the problem, then it means the leapster explorer is having a defective sound ic/board/card. There is an IC on the board of the leapster explorer which is responsible for sound. If this ic has a shot, there won't be any sound. If this be the cause, I think it's high time to took the leapster explorer to a repairman because this requires skill.
I hope the above is clear. If not, please let me know for further assistance.
Regards.
Are you using it with a game? Will it stay on if NO game cartridge is in & are U able to access & play Pre-installed games?
If so, it may be the cartridge is DIRTY. I discovered this with our Leapster 2. What works for us is getting a Q-TIP & RUBBING ALCOHOL, you want to saturate Q-tip with the rubbing alcohol & clean the CARTRIDGE (NOT the Hand held ).
You want to clean the computer chip @ the bottom by inserting Alcohol soaked Q-tip on each side of contact strip (the part that inserts into the hand held) & with the dry end of Q-tip go over it again, for more cleaning & to wipe up any EXCESS Alcohol. REPEAT this process until Q-TIP comes back CLEAN.
I was really surprised @ ALL the BLACK grime that came off cartridge.
To delete a player profile, go to the player profile screen and press and continue to hold down the following buttons in sequence:
Home A button Left arrow Then, touch the X icon that appears at the bottom of the screen and follow audio instructions. Note: You can only delete a name when all three name slots are filled. The above procedure only works on LEAPSTER 2. Directly from Leapster website -
Question
How do I delete or change a player name on Leapster™ cartridges?
Answer
It is possible to remove a player once you have added three player names to the cartridge. If there is a name on the cartridge that you want to remove, take these steps.
1- Add new players until there are three players on the cartridge.
2- Once you have three players on the cartridge, an "X" will appear below each player's name.
3- Touch the "X", then touch the name of the player you want to delete. Touch "Yes" to delete the name. Then add a new name, or touch OK twice to go back to the sign-in screen without adding a name. Two names will always remain on the cartridge. This is a design flaw with leapsters games (apparently nobody thought to think that they do get sold secondhand or passed down in families) Since you havent specified the system - LEAPSTER ORIGINAL LEAPSTER 2 LEAPSTER LMAX Clicking on any of the above will get you the owners manuals in PDF format. We had a similar problem leapster turned on but would not let us chose a name for sign in. We held down the ? button when switching on then wen tthrough the stylus calibration and re-bootted. All started working again. Hope this helps
