My web camera isn't working. It says the camera initialization failed. I have a Lenovo IdeaPad Y510 with Windows Vista.
My computer keeps saying camera initialization failed as well. I also have a Lenovo IdeaPad Y510. It was working fine till randomly today.

Based on concern, Y510 camera driver for Windows 7 is not yet released based on Lenovo's support download site. Hence, you still can try updating the camera using the windows vista camera driver. Just go to this link.
--> after downloading, install the driver then restart your computer.

Windows 7 is a new platform and every hardware manufacture is developing the driver suits for it.Meanwhile you will have to download the drivers directly from the chip manufacturers site e.g. for sound you can download it from http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/.
About the chip manufacturers you can know from the Y510 page where the drivers are there for Vista or XP.
Try pressing the "Fn" and "esc" buttons on the keyboard both at the same time to turn the camera on or off. It may work or may not, but that is the way it is supposed to work. There have been a lot of problems with this web cam and yahoo messenger. The only other thing I can suggest is to contact Lenovo and see if they might have another driver that can resolve this.
