Do you get any flashes from the controller lights? This is usually the way you diagnose errors. A high number of flashes/beeps often means there is an issue with the controller or joystick.
Batteries are only fitted if they are needed so a 'spare' battery isn't very likely. Most wheel chairs and scooters need a powerful battery to spin the electric motor so a pair of batteries are used. The two batteries also act as a counter weight to keep the chair upright.
They are normally fitted in a 'serial' or 'in-line' set up. Basically into one battery, across to the second battery then out through the second battery.
The chair is more than likely in free wheel. There are two levers under front of the seat (yellow). Pulling them forward should place the chair in freewheel and pushing the levers back should place the chair in drive. Once in drive mode, turn power on to reset joystick.
you are not to open and add water to your batteries they are supposed to be sealed. if you put unsealed batteries in your chair then you did not put in the correct batteries. Batteries from wal mart or any type of unsealed batteries will void any warranties on your chair. the fuse should not have blown if the batteries were put in correctly and you had the wrong batteries. You will have to contact Invacare directly to order a fuse or have a local provider order one for you. While your at it dump the batteries and purchase the correct batteries for your chair You need 2 U1 sealed deep cycle batteries. Check with a local interstate battery outlet or contact your provider to get you the proper batteries
6 flashes indicate a right park brake fault or you have the right wheel in freewheel check the freewheel lever on the right motor to make sure it is in the drive mode Hope this helps
Lets solve this, one question at a time ....
First your batteries are not charging,This may be because of it siting for too long without a charge. The batteries may be so dead that your charger cannot reconize them. dontlosse hope there are ways to check your batteries and charger with out spending alot of money on a tech coming over.
1) Unplug and remove your batteries from the chair
2) Find your self a charge that trickle charge
(Note: If you have a batterie charger ,trickle charge is the lowest set charge)
3) Trickle charge each batterie to about 50%
4) Install batteries back on to chair
5) Plug in chair charger
The chairs charger should come on ,and that right there tells you that you have a good charger!
The batteries that came with this chair are not bad and are considered ok to use .These type of batteries are what you call maintenancebatteries ,which your always having to check if the leaking or need water. The gell type batteries are what they call non-maintenance.That you dont have to always look after but are more money.Thats why they recommend the gells so that the user doesn't have to work on there chair.
The Mk battery is a maintenance free battery, they are sealed to keep from spilling water or leaking acid. And let me tell you right now if the chair is used inside that's the battery you want. Most major wheelchair/scooter manufactures have went away form the maintaincebattery's because of accidents like acid spills .I would recommend the gelsealedmaintaince free battery ,last long ,little more money ,but its worth it .
You can visit this website to find answers on what the flashing trouble indicator lights mean: http://www.pgdt.com/scenter/diagnostics/diagvsi.html
Locate the page that has the controller used on your power chair/scooter and count how many lights are flashing to diagnose the trouble.
If the Jazzy is pulling to one side, it may indicate that there is a bad fuse or motor and the blinking lights are trying to alert you to this.
If your insurance purchased the power chair for you, they may also cover the repairs and have a DME (Durable Medical Equpment) company to refer you to for service if the Scooter Store is not helpful; contact them for information.
Good luck!
you need to have the batteries tested it is possible that if left in a discharged state for an extended time that thee batteries may be damaged and will not be able to be recharged
