Question about Toshiba Computers & Internet
Within minutes system freezes
This is likely to be as a result of your processor over-heating, maybe because of your environment, possibly because the air-vent is blocked, or because the fan is not cooling the processor properly again...especially if you use the laptop on the bed a lot, this blocks the vents and sucks in wools/dusts e.t.c
Therefore my suggestion would be for you to unscrew your laptop (If you can do it by yourself), and try to clean, or better still replace your processor fan.
Also clean the air-vent where air is supposed to enter the laptop If you cant do it by yourself, you can easily get a technician to do it for you.
A quick tip you can try now is : Locate all the vents on the laptop, where the fans are placed and blow air into it to forcefully clear some dusts, then power on the system to see if there's any change.
Also, remove all your RAM(Memory Sticks), and clean the tip of the connector with an eraser, and re-insert it one after the other.
That is, if you have two of them, after you insert the first one, put on your system and see if it works, then do the same thing with the other one.
If the two of them works, them insert the them all. but if it is just one that worked, just remove the other one that is not working and replace it.
If the two of them are not working, then try to get a RAM of the same type to test it with, either from a friend or a technician.
Then always remember to make sure that your laptop is in a well ventilated, cool environment and that the environment is free from dusts.
Also, some other things you can try out are: Try to power on your laptop without inserting the battery, just use that AC Supply only. this lets you know whether your battery is faulty.
Kindly let me know how it goes after you've tried all these.
Hope this helps you out.
Good luck and Thank you for using Fixya!

Norton antivirus takes big space in the computer coz it try to block all the files and make them secure, so it slow down your computer specially if you have vista and with low Ram. so First Try to remove norton and check your computer? it seems the Ram is low so its unable to continue its froze, or if you feel its over heat, check the fan on the Cpu could be not working which make ur Cpu Froze.

Do you think its due to external webcam ?
You mean that if you dont use webcame it works fine.
If this is the case you just uninstall the webcame drivers from Add/Remove Programmes under Control Panel.
Try to get the latest drivers from webcame manufacture website which suits your windows(OS) and install it again.

It may well be some form of virus or spyware.
It may also be that you have too many applications running at once eg. lots of toolbars and instant message typ programs.
It can also happen on graphic intensive applications.
You should rule out nasty stuff first.
for a free one its pretty darned good !
From a CLEAN computer download and put on a flash drive.
Copy to your DESKTOP on the suspec computer.
Run it but dont change any options just use what it offers.
When its done let it clean anything it finds.
Its where I always start with an infected machine.
As for antivirus AVOID Norton or Mcafee but try the AVG FREE version MBAM should clean up without buying
Only continued use would require purchase As for too many applications that would be up to you to decide what you REALLY need and dont. Most toolbars are a waste of both time and space and can hog computers down. Maybe a good clean up is in order ?
It may just be a "leaking application"
These are badly coded programs that dont release memory when they should and just keep taking more to do the same job.
May I suggest you download "hijackthis"
It is a program that can make a report on what you have running in such a way that you can post that information to certain sites and experts there will look at it.
They will then give you reccomendations as to how you can remove programs or fix some issues that may be upsetting your computer.
Dont post the log here but follow the nstructions and help the program offers to send it to one of the sites it will offer you.
If you understand startup lists you may even be able to spot som things yourself that you dont want to run and disable them from hijack this.

When you power up, turn the notebook so you can see if the cooling fan is running.
