Only partial sound coming out of Bose Companion 3 Series II speaker system

I have a Bose Companion 3 Series II speaker system that was working fine (or maybe i noticed slight distortions once in a while) yesterday but now when I turned my computer on today there's no mid range (I'm guessing mid range) coming out of the speakers and no settings were changed whatsoever.(That little balance knob in the back is in the middle position) I'm wondering if Windows could have updated some driver without me knowing about it. When I watch a regular video on youtube the person's voice doesn't come through.. only some low music and background noises. Also, when I play some music both through zune and Real Player, it sounds like the backup singers come through okay but the lead singer is in the closet with an open door -- very tinny and quiet. What could be wrong? I've tried switching left and right speakers but that doesn't make any difference.

I double checked the cord donnections on the back of the bass unit and found that the cord to the computer had become loose. Plugged it back in tightly and it works perfectly again!

SOURCE: Can't hear voice of singer on speakers, more of an echo sound

Hello Shemon
Well, there is 2 option here, 1) your sound speakers are not connected corretly or in the right slots on the sound card.
2) your sound card, (internal or external) you have to use the mixer on software to put the right channels for the music you heard. try configuring in control panel, in multimedia devices, the speakers. for 5.1 system, or 2 way speakers or 3
try again

SOURCE: Can't hear voice of singer on speakers, more of an echo sound

An old trick to remove vocals from a song was to rip the right channel, then the left, the combine them (since vocals are typically mixed in a third 'center' channel, though things like reverb or echo are applied to the right and/or left channels which sounds like what you are hearing).

I would play with the balance and mixer settings and see if you can get the vocals back. Also try other speakers or even headphones and see if you have the same problem.

Hope this helps!

SOURCE: Bose Companion 3 Series II not working (Mac)

The speakers seem to be muted by default - you'll see that the LED is yellow/amber. Tap the control pod - the LED will turn green and speakers will work. I felt like such an idiot after I spent almost an hour trying to figure this out. (This feature should be more prominent in the manual.)

I have a Bose sound system companion series 3 ii and the lights just yellow and no sounds coming out and it turned red and no sound was still coming out.It was working fine about half a an hour ago

the drivers might have been corrupted by something or you might have got a virus run your antivrus program and test for a virus then
you might have to uninstall then reinstall either the sound drivers or the sound card make sure you have both of these devices baked up to a disc before uninstalling
a yellow? question mark means you need to install/update driver right click to install driver

Loud hum when Bose Companion 3 Series II speakers are turned on.

I had the same problem for many months. I asked a sound & video professional and he suggested I move the subwoofer away from any power source. I had the subwoofer next to my UPS. Once separated and moved all wiring away from the power supply (about 12") the low bass hum was practically gone.

Bose Companion 3 series II speakers aren't producing sound (imac)

from what I've read, the imac has a 3.5mm (.138) jack while the Bose jack is 1/8 (.125). very small difference in size (.013), but enough to cause problems.
