Try rolling back with System Restore. It can be found in help, right clicking My Computer, or typing System Restore in Search.

You may need to try a few dates, prior to the problem starting.

SOURCE: i have a dell latitude

I would suggest, as a first step, to have a look on what kind of errors and/or warnings you get in the System event log when you try to shut down your laptop while it is attached to the docking station. This could shed up some light on what is going on causing the error message you get.
If this did not help you solve the problem, feel free to drop me a note, & I will see what we could do towards resolving your problem. Thanks.

Software Error?

Yes it is. Try re-installing the software. If that does not help, re-install your operating system and install the software. If that doesn't work as well, try replacing RAM. Most often the software works after re-installing it or the operating system, but their might be a chance of H/W failure. However, H/W problems are not so common with the type of error message you are getting.
Also, please see if the device (you are using the software for.. like some camera or a scanner) IS CONNECTED to your system properly.

IE 8 opens pages with errors.

Hi there, If you have access to another PC download a new copy and save to desktop. Then burn to a CD or thumb drive(flash drive)and make sure that it shows up in My computer by right clicking on the icon that you chose .There should be a preview in explorer. Then just uninstall old IE and install new IE.You might go to a library but call first about downloading.Google Chrome and Fire Fox by Mozilla are safer browsers than IE.A safe download site is www.cnet.com.

Application Error : The exception unknown software exception (0xc00000fd) occurred in the application at location 0x7c915321.

The computer should start in safe mode, if the Aventail Connect program is installed on your computer uninstall it. Also this issue may occur if the virtual memory is low check that you have enough hard drive space and verify your page file is set to system managed.
