I have a Sony CRX320E CD/DVD unable to write a DVD

Sometimes it is due to a dirty read lens in the unit. More often it is due to newer DVDs having newer security encryption algorithms that the older units are not compatible with. You may want to check to see if there are any firmware upgrades for your unit that may bring it more up to date on the current encryption standards.

Have you tried burning a CD in the new drive? Because the drive is a DVD it will always be recognised as a DVD, but should work perfectly well with CDs both playing and recording.

The dvd player lens has developed a fault which has caused it unable to play dvds but cds

Your unit will read DVD only. TO burn DVD, you must purchase DVD burner

The messagin indicates that the unit recognizes the a DVD is present. Since it goes that far, it suggests that the information read from the disc is wrong. A dirty lens can cause this. Use a cotton swab as Welcomjee suggested dampened with alcohol. If that does not resolve the problem but a CD will play, then the optics are failing and need to be replaced.

Given the cost of replacement optics for your unit, if the optics are bad, replace the unit.

You can,t see a picture on the screen?
Your Drive does,nt recognise a DVD Disk ?
Have you got software installed, to view a DVD ?
Like windows media player or Nero DVD ?

i guess the the problem is with the cd-r... try other cd-r and check the rom

Cleaning the Laser head.
Using a different read-write program.
