Sounds like the power supply is bad. Does it beep on power up that is the post test to let you know the power supply is good? It is way cheaper to buy a new one then try and repair. hope this helps.

If it happens after a few seconds, it may be overheating. If immedietely, the power supply unit is bad.

The memory modules are located at the bottom of the laptop under one of the panels.
The memory modules may be OK and may only need reseating. Then boot up the laptop to see if it works, if it doesn't work, the memory may be faulty, take it to a computer shop to get it tested.

By power up , do you mean no lights. no fans,no sounds? If correct then:
 Check 120 volts going into the power supply.  Check  that the power supply switch is on 1 and not 0 If this fails. Change power supply.

I would suggest checking the motherboard for any burned or blackened spots on the motherboard or any add-on cards that may be present. You should be able to get something on the display as long as you have good power and a good video card. You still run the risk of having a bad hard drive or cd rom.

you need to remove and install the battery. Some times this works first try others may take a few trys. Mine does the same thing. Good luck

Sounds like the hard drive has had a failure, you need to get a replacement one, and reinstall it, along with the opperating system, and any other programs that were on the old one.

how I solve this issue of a customer of mine.
replaced power supply and one memory stick was faulty
lesson learned: check the obvious first.. .Powersupply.. if problems persists... check your ram... if you have 2 sticks of ram,, try reseating and using one at a time or swap with known good memory.
