Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Offhand, the easiest connection method would be to use a short RF patchcord to connect the RF out of the DVD/VCR to the ANT/CABLE/RF IN of the TV. Set the TV to Channel 3. To continue able to receive ant/cable channels, the cable input should go to the ANT/CABLE/RF IN of the VCR/DVD.

Samsung hook up VCR

You need to find a common wire connector. Is the VCR old? If so and the TV is very new there might not be a common cable. List the type of connectors on the VCR and then on the TV.

We have a new vcr snowy

It seems that you need to take the new unit back for exchange, since you are using the same output for the vcr and the dvd and your dvd is giving you a good picture, the vcr is acting up and since it's new either exchange or repair will be needed.

DV1130 hooked up to TV, DVD works great. VHS has

If you are using RCA cables (Red Yellow White) the video (yellow) could be bad or not in the connector all the way. When the VCR mode is selected try pulling the yellow connector out then back in and see if anything changes on the tv.

If you are using another type cable let me know and I will help you diagnose.

Hope this helps

How do I hook up a VCR to a small Sanyo TV? Thank you

How you hook up the VCR depends on the connections available on the VCR and the TV.

The simplest method is to use a cable from the VCR's RF (antenna) output connector to the TV's antenna input connector and tune the TV to the VCR output channel (3 or 4). You might need to purchase an adapter to switch from the standard plug on the cable to whatever kind of external antenna connector is on the TV. If the set only has a built-in antenna and no external connection at all (which would be quite unusual), you need a "balun" transformer. This has a connector on one end for the cable from the VCR and a flat wire with two terminals on the other end. Attach one of the terminals to the set's antenna with a clip-on jumper wire. Radio Shack sells the parts.

If your VCR does not have RF output but just audio and video jacks, connect those to the TV's a/v inputs if it has them. Again, an adapter cable might be required.

If the TV doesn't have a/v input available, you need an RF converter. This takes the a/v signals from the VCR and produces a channel 3 or 4 output that you can connect to the TV as described above.

It sounds more complicated than it actually is. Once you look at the VCR and TV, and remember that outputs always go to inputs, it's usually pretty clear what needs to be done. If you still have troubles please post a follow-up comment and I'll try to help more.

Can only get DVD audio when hooking it up to Goldstar VCR...

The DVD must be connected with the RCA jacks-plugs [usually black & red] to the INPUT of the VCR, not to the RF connector. You must press the VCR\TV button to VCR so that the VCR takes control. When you place a DVD movie or AUDIO program it could be copied to the VCR. or played through the VCR.

How to connect my dvd & vcr with the converter box

Here is my setup.
1) Separate DVD player 2) Separate VCR 3) Digital to Analog Converter box 4) Analog TV 5) Rabbit ears (UHF/VHF) antenna
The antenna goes into the converter box.   The RF-output of the converter goes into the RF-Input of the VCR The DVD output goes into the front input jacks of the VCR The VCR RF-output goes into the TV RF-Input The VCR Line output goes into the front of the TV
To watch DVDs, we turn on the DVD player, turn on the VCR, and set the VCR channel to L2, and tune the TV to channel 3.  The converter is off.
To auto record on the VCR, the converter must be tuned to the station being recorded.  The converted must be turned on, the TV can be off.
To watch VCR tapes, turn the TV and VCR on.  The TV is set to channel 3.  Just press play on the VCR.
To Watch TV.   Turn the TV and converter on.  The TV is set to channel 3.   Change the stations using the converter.

Sanyo tv...something is wrong with the imput on my tv or on the remote. the screen says to check all terminals on back and press the up channel key. when i do this it just scans the channels then returns...

jtrent2- O.k you say your t.v has nothing hooked to it at all, what do normally have hooked to it. Do you normally run coax cable,or rca input. The tv is looking for your source ,hook up your regular source, and see what you get. The tv needs to see a source,of some kind. Try hooking a vcr to the cable connector on the back, play a tape and scan your channels. The tv should pick up the vcr as channel 3 or 4 and lock in. Try this and let me know,I can help you. cooltek Mar,3/08

Orion STV 2763 27in TV

Hi,

I am assuming that your TV has Video IN source selection.

You need to use the Video/Audio OUTput of the VCR/CD and connect them to the Video/Audio INput of the TV. To do this you would have to use a 3-wire shielded cable with male RCA connectors color yellow, red & white.
c296912.jpg RCA male connectors, yellow is usually video, red/white is audio left/right.

599898c.jpg as shown OUT of VCR/CD to IN of TV.

Pnce done, play the VCR/CD with a good known CD or tape and set TV to Video mode.

Hope this be of help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

I need help with my tv and dvd/vcr combo

Hmmmm...I dont understand exactly what you are saying, but it sounds like your TV doesnt have RCA ports and you want to hook up a newer DVD player that uses RCA ports. If you have only a cable port (silver threads with a hole sticking out of back) on TV and RCA ports on DVD player, you have to buy a converter. You can get one at Wal-Mart for 20-30 dollars. Or you can just update your TV which it sounds like you badly need to do! :)
