I have a vector 2,000,000 spotlight vec138c Sport Spot. The small light works but dull, and the main light not at all. From what i can see the main bulb looks ok. Suggestions?
It sounds like the battery has just enough "juice" to give the small light some power, but when the larger light is turned on it overloads the bad (or expired) battery. When you put a new battery in you can extend the life by not using the light when the battery starts to die. This is when it starts to permanently damage the battery. Turn it off and recharge as soon as it dims. Charge often, but don't leave on the charger too long unless it is a smart charger and turns off when the battery is fully charged. This will also reduce the life. You can find a replacement battery here: http://batteryinternational.com/spotlight-batteries-vector-battery.html

I am sure I answered this last week, in fact I know I did!. It is not available as a direct replacement. Look on the unit for an input voltage or ask the maker. Or you can buy one of these and see what happens?
Unfortunately the batteries lose their ability to charge when not used for an extended period of time. The light is very simple to dismantle by removing the black rubber ring that holds the lens on and then removing the screws. I believe the following battery may be the replacement you need. http://www.batteryspec.com/cgi-bin/cart.cgi?action=link&product=313
Baccus just bought Vector from Black & Decker (Sept. 2010) Looks like flashlight model # VEC 139BW but a different color. (Mine is White w/blue trim.) There is a battery in the top & one in the bottom, replace them at the same time. If I can find several battery stores in Buffalo you should be able to find a local battery store there. Baccus- 877-571-2391 for main beam, area light no longer available. Try to find local distributor & save shipping charges.
While it could be the battery, it could also be the internal charger in the spotlight. When you plug it in, it bypasses the charger and uses the connected power. However, it is likely just a bad battery. The batteries only last 3 years in an ideal setting and since these lights are typically only used certain times of the year, the batteries discharge and go bad. It depends on what voltage the internal battery is. If it's a 6 volt, the charging voltage will be a little higher, close to 6.5 to 7 volts. Most of these spotlights are 6 volt.
