Targus 4-Port not working - Targus 4-port USB Hub Group International ACH119US

Hello. I am running Windows 7 64-bit on an Nec VersaPro laptop (intel core i# M370 2.4 GHz processor). I purchased a Targus 4-port USB 3 hub because I don't have enough space on my hard drive for all of my files. I want to use USB 3 for a faster connection so thta I can access my files more quickly. My computer recognizes the hub, but it doesn't recognize anything plugged into the hub. Id'd be very appreciative if someone gave me some feedback. Thanks.

First off hubs don't support a lot of power hungry devices so you should be able to buy an optional power adapter for the hub on targus' site.
Second if your computer doesn't have any usb 3 ports then the hub will only operate at usb 2 speeds.

Your probably overloading the hub. Buy the power adapter.

I plug in the 4 port usb targus and it doesnt respond

sometimes you have to plug a usb into these to get them to respond if this does not work try plugging it into another USB port. If this does not work than look at the wires they may have come unattached

Right click on my computer or the icon for my computer and select manage then open device manager and see what it says in there then up top select check for hardware changes icon, this should look for and install the hub

Targus Travel USB 2.0 4-port Hub

sometimes usb hard drives will not work through a usb hub.
if the drive works connected to the laptop but not the hub then that's how you'll have to use it.
it's also possible the laptop cannot power both the hub AND the drive, in whaich case you'll need a powered hub (one you plug in to the mains).

Have Targus roller laptop case. Wheels have gone and cant find replacement. Any pointers?

My Port 3.1 bag had a bad wheel - called Targus customer support at 1-877-482-7487 and they're sending me replacement wheels with the hardware. No charge - this is being covered under warranty.

Power supply for Targus 4 hub usb 2

Most USB hubs do not need an external power supply, except when a connected USB device draws more power than the computer/laptop USB port can supply. In this case an external power supply will need to be connected to the USB hub.
Normally this would be a 5 volt power supply, but make sure the polarity on the connector matches the power connector on the hub, check the label on the hub, sometimes it states to power requirements of the hub as well as the polarity on the connector. Normally the pin on the hub's power connector is positive (ie. +5V)

Hello,

I'm sorry to tell you your hub cannot be fixed. I have one just like it and have taken these things apart and repaired simple factory errors as loose wires and the such.

You should get yourself another Targus brand USB hub. They are good and quite reliable
