You will have to do a manual factory reset of your router. Locate a small hole on the back of the unit and using the tip of a paper clip, insert it into the hole for about 10 seconds with the power on, and this will reset the router to its factory settings.

SOURCE: cant figureout how to set a password to a d-link router

Hi…I’ll try and lend a hand. There are several ways to set up wireless security on this router. However, I’ll help you set it up using the manual method.

Important note: use a wired (Ethernet) connection to the router to set up wireless security.

There are four main steps:

1) Login to your router.
I’m sure you have done this already, but here it is again for clarity. Type the router address in the address bar of a web browser. For this router, it is http://192.168.0.1

Select ‘Admin’ from the dropdown box, then enter your password IF you have set one – otherwise, just leave the field blank and press return.

You should then see the configuration screen/user interface.

2) Change the router password.
If you HAVEN’T set a password, this is a good place to start. Go to Tools >Admin option. Set and confirm a password for ‘Admin’, and note it down. Also, set and confirm a password for ‘User’. Click ‘save settings’ when finished.

Make sure these passwords are not easy to guess, or a neighbour could log into your router and view/change all your settings.

3) Change the SSID (router name):
Go to Setup > Wireless Settings. You should see an option marked ‘Wireless Network Name’ or SSID. Change this from the default, ‘dlink’, to anything you like –as long as you can remember it. It is case sensitive, and you can use up to 32 letters – but don’t use something that could identify you, or your location. Click ‘save settings’ when finished.

4) Enable encryption
Still in the 'Wireless Settings' menu option, you should see the ‘Wireless Security Mode’ section. Under the 'Security mode' dropdown you have a number of options for encryption. WPA is safest....I would pick WPA-Personal.

You should see a dropdown box marked WPA Mode – select Auto. Leave Group Key Update Interval at the default of 3600s.

Under Pre-Shared Key you should enter a long password, or passphrase, between 8 and 63 letters/numbers long. This can be any series of letters/ numbers, or you can use a phrase with numbers ( eg - 456HappyhOLIdaystoyou8899). It is case sensitive.

Note down the passphrase carefully. You will need this to connect wirelessly. (The WPA shared key may also be called the network key, PSK, pre-shared key or passphrase). Click 'Save settings' when finished.

That's it, you have done enough to secure your network, and can close the screen.

There are further security options to enable if you wish, but these three are the most important.

When you next connect wirelessly, you'll see the router with its new name in your 'available wireless networks'. When you attempt to connect, you are asked for the WPA shared key you set in Step 4. If all goes well, you can then save this and will connect automatically in future.

Hope this helps you. Please come back to Fixya if this doesn't work or if you need help with any of it.

SOURCE: forgotten dl-624+ password and cant get into settings 192.168.0.1

Hi,

If you’re using Windows, go to Start > (All) Programs >Accessories > Command Prompt.

You should see a command line window. Type in ipconfig and press return. In the output you see, the IP address under ‘Default Gateway’ should be your router address.

If this doesn’t work either, or it is showing the IP address you already tried, please come back to Fixya.

SOURCE: forgotten password for D-Link DSL G604T wireless router

These are the default settings:

When the login window appears, set the user name to Admin and leave the password box empty. If this doesn't work, you may also try admin for both username and password (all small letters).

If the default doesn't work, you may reset the password by pressing the reset button for 30 seconds. This will bring the router to factory default settings (including all the configurations set on the router).

Hope this helps.

You need to access router menu . Try 192.168.0.1 in your web browser address bar. You can really screw things up if you don't know what you are doing. Get the manual and read it 1st.

One sim will work in the D-link DWR-730 firn but when I put in another sim that is working fine in another device, it won't work. I can log onto the d-link but you cannot get onto the web

I do have the same problem. All works fine except it stays "disconnected" and no way to change that.
Also I found no way to put or change the number to be dialled in the DWR-730 to connect to a service. Normally it needs to dial *99# for the operator I am using. I guess our problem is only that.
Who from Dlink can tell us how to access the modems dial string?

Forgotten pre-shared key for D-Link Router

I thought there was a check box in this model that enabled you to see the password/key. If not then you may have to do a factory reset and set-up everything from scratch. Cannot remember if this model has a guest mode, but if the device you are connecting is not critical, TV, BlueRay, Roku etc, then enable the guest mode without a password to connect. These devices will NOT connect to other things on the network, but if they only need internet access it may be OK.

Secure wireless internet

The D-Link is configured using a Web browser. After you have connected your computer to the D-Link router, follow these steps: 1. Launch your Web browser. Enter "http://192.168.0.1" into the address bar and press the "Enter" or "Return" key.
2. A logon pop-up screen will appear. Type "admin" for the username and leave the password field blank.
3. Click "OK". A D-Link configuration screen will appear. All changes to the D-Link configuration are made here.

Enabling WEP* (Wired Equivalent Privacy) will require anyone wishing to access the Internet through your wireless network to enter a password. After the correct password is entered, a connection is established, and all data sent from the D-Link to the computer and back is encrypted. From the D-Link configuration screen:
1. Click the "Home" tab.
2. Click the "Wireless" button.
3. Click the "Open System" button next to "Authentication".
4. Set the "WEP Encryption" to "128 bit".
5. Set the "Key Type" to "ASCII".
6. Type a 13 digit password into "Key 1".
7. Click "Apply".
8. When you connect to your wireless network from a computer, you will need to enter the 13 digit password.
*Note: If your computer's operating system supports it, enabling WPA-PSK is more secure than WEP. The steps above can be modified to set up WPA-PSK.
