JBL onstage speakers have no volume

I must have broken one of the outside prongs where the ipod connects to the player. I have no volume. The ipod plays, but no volume.

The sound is screeching when the volume is louder

that screeching is called feedback..which is caused by loop oscillation in plain english that means that sound is going from the speaker to the microphone and "looping" causing feedback noise or "screetching" there is nothing you can do but lower the volume it's a normal phenom not a fault in the product but more user error. sorry to say. the only thing you can do is lower the volume till it goes away.

I am thinking of getting and Ipod touch 3G. I have JBL on stage micro Speakers. I've charged a Ipod touch 2G, but I want a 3G! Please Help!

When the OnStage speakers first came out, the charger was not compatible with 3g iPods or iPhones. Newer speakers have an upgraded charger and will charge all current iPods/iPhones (up to and including iPhone 3Gs)

Bad news is that there's no way to upgrade an old OnStage.

You can test yours by trying an iPhone 3G (if you have a friend with one, for example) to see if you have the old or the new charging circuit.

I need to open a JBL onstage II speaker system to reattach the ipod dock, i can do that, it just doesn't seem to open

you have to remove the 3 sticky pads in at the bottom of the speaker and there you will expose all the screws that need to be removed...there is also one where the batteries go
if you have any luck replacing the ipod dock let me know please

JBL on stage micro will not charge my ipod any more. It plays songs fine from the ipod but for some reason is not charging it. Any suggestions?

The JBL Onstage Micro is supposed to disable recharging of the iPod when running off AAA batteries to avoid draining them, but sometimes this setting gets stuck even when the unit is plugged in through the AC adaptor. The workaround that I found is pulling out and reconnecting the iPod to the Onstage Micro (while both are powered on) and then unplugging and reconnecting the AC adaptor. Sometimes you have to repeat this process, but the iPod should start recharging after that. I tried it on the new 5th generation nano and this seems to work.

Will not charge a ipod touch 2

If you're willing to spend $40, there's an adapter available from Scosche Accessories. It comes in both black and white and they say it will convert any docking device to the new charging format. (The problem is that Apple has discontinued charging via the FireWire pin - which virtually all accessories - even including Bose - have used up to now. All the 2nd Generation stuff now uses direct USB charging, not FireWire.

Check out the convertor at:
