SOURCE: Television

the liquid from the cleaner dripped down to the switch it sounds like and the only way to fix this if its not to late is to pull out the Printed curcuit board and clean the switches and the pcb in the front of the set and get all the liquid cleaner out and off the board. now you wanna clean the board with something without lubercante like a tuner wash from chemtronics or something like that. I've told peeps a million times , when you clean off a crt face apply the cleaner or spray on the cleaning cloth directly first. Never ever spray on a picture tube face as this will happen eventually if you do.. Good Luck

The tv usually turns on but all of a sudden it won't. When it does turn on it makes a loud noise like a boat. Someone told me its the fan but I'm not 100% sure though. The noise stays on until the tv

Sounds like the motherboard on the TV has failed. Would recommend replacing the TV or taking it to a TV repair shop which may cost more than just replacing it.

TV won't turn on. Stays in Standby mode

Someone is going to have to go inside and check voltages and other things --no brand or model is indicated here so this is as much as I can suggest.

My GPX tv/dvd combo is making an intermitent 'buzzing' sound, anyone know how to fix it?

Is the sound coming from the speakers? (do you hear it with the sound turned off)

Either an audio problem if heard only with sound up or if a buzz with sound off it is a coil or transformer on the circuit board vibrating hard enough to produce the noise.

Both are fixable but require different tactics to resolve.

My vizio tv keeps shutting off

If it turns on reliably but won't stay on, try putting a portable fan pointed at the rear of the set.
If this prolongs operation, it may be a semiconductor at fault or an early warning of a common problem caused by chemical (electrolytic) capacitors going bad in the switched mode power supply. If this is the case, the problem will continue to get worse until it no longer turns on at all.

I can't get the color right. What are the perfect setting?

Hello!
Have you tried preset picture modes off TV's "picture" menu or "picture" on remote control unit. Most modern sets have "preset" modes: normal, vivid, natural, movie, sports, user, etc. Try to toggle between those modes. may be the one of those will look right for you. Make sure: "user" mode is for custo adjustments. You must choose desired settings: "picture(contrast)", "brightness", "color", "tint", "sharpness", "color temperature". May also have: DNR(dynamic noise reduction", "black level expansion", etc. I'd try presets, first and make notice of those settings. If that is, still not right to you, you may be able to tweak "user" mode the way you like it, based on info from other modes. If that won't help, you may have an issue with your TV.
good luck,
thanks,
Alex.

These units have had a failure in either logic board or the main board. The only way to repair these units is to get replacement boards and see if this repairs the problem. You can try to source these parts at e-bay. Use the search engine, plug in the make of you television model number, and part number of the board you think you need for the repair. The search engine will bring up all available parts for you.You can also try this website for parts. http://www.discount-merchant.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=&Search=PCB&RefineBy_Manufacturer=MINTEK I hope this information is of some help to you with your problem.
