You can get an Ethernet adapter for HP printers that plugs the USB in one slot and then an RJ45 cable from the other to the network. Good luck.

Cannot get the wireless connection to work on the printer. The USB cable is connected to the back of the PCU. I've installed and uninstalled twice and nothing. It did work when I first got it and...

Here are some guidelines to identify and fix your wireless communication issue:
  • What is the status of the Wi-Fi light on the printer? Green light means that it's connected to a wireless network while Orange light means it's not connected to a network.
  • Try to print the printer's wireless network settings to determine if it's connected to your own wireless network. On the printer operator panel, touch the Setup button > Network Setup > Print Setup Page. Your printer will then print the its wireless network information page. Ensure that the printer is connected to your network by checking the Network Card Status, Wireless SSID, Quality or Trouble Code.
  • If printer is not connected to your network, you may need to reset your printer's wireless network settings. On the printer operator panel, press Setup button > Network Setup > Reset Network Settings. The Wi-Fi light on the printer will momentarily turn off then back on to solid orange. You can then run the Wireless Setup Utility application on your computer to reconfigure the printer to connect to your wireless network. On your computer, launch the Lexmark Printer Home application > go to Settings tab > Wireless Setup Utility. Please follow the instructions on your computer screen.
If you still need assistance, please contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for additional assistance.

How do I change the ip address of the Dell 1720 dn printer to work with my network?

Ok the following instructions will help you reset the ip address of your printer however you must use the origina driver cd to do this. Follow the instructions below if you have no print server involved with this network. If you do use a print server let me know ok?

Print and Check the Network Setup Page
  1. When the Ready/Data light is on solid, press and release Continue to print a menu settings page and a network setup page.

  2. Under the Standard Network Card heading on the network setup page, make sure Status is Connected.

If Status is Not Connected:
    • Make sure the Ethernet cable is firmly plugged into the back of the printer.

    • Plug the Ethernet cable into another wall outlet.

  1. Under the "TCP/IP" heading on the network setup page, make sure the IP address, netmask, and gateway are what you expected.

  2. Ping the printer and verify that it responds. For example, at a command prompt on a network computer, type ping followed by the new printer IP address (for example, 192.168.0.11):

ping xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
If the printer is active on the network, you will receive a reply.
  1. If your printer doesn't respond, or if the IP address is not what you expected:

    1. Insert the Drivers and Utilities CD into your computer.

    1. The Drivers and Utilities CD should launch the installation software automatically.

If the CD does not automatically launch, click Start® Run, type D:setup.exe (where D is the drive letter of your CD), and then click OK.
    1. When the Drivers and Utilities CD screen appears, click Set IP Address Utility.

    2. Select your printer from the "Configure Print Servers" list, and then click TCP/IP Settings.

    3. Make the necessary changes, and then click OK.

    4. Click Close.

    5. Print and check the network setup page to verify your changes.

Install Printer Drivers for All Clients
  1. Insert the Drivers and Utilities CD into your computer.

  2. The Drivers and Utilities CD should launch the installation software automatically.

If the CD does not automatically launch, click Start®Run, type D:setup.exe (where D is the drive letter of your CD), and then click OK.
  1. When the Drivers and Utilities CD screen appears, click Network Installation - Install the printer for use on a network.

  2. Select Install printer on one or more remote computers, and then click Next.

  3. Enter your Administrator user name and password, and then click Add.

  4. Select the clients or servers, and then click Next.

  5. Select the network printer you would like to install, and then click Next. If you do not see your printer listed, click Update to refresh the list or click Add Printer to add a printer to the network.

  6. Select your printer from the list. If you would like to change the printer name listed, enter a new name in the Printer Name field.

  7. If you want other users on the network to access this printer, select Share this printer with other computers, and then enter a share name that users will easily identify.

  8. Click Next.

  9. Select the software and documentation you want to install, and then click Install.

  10. When the Congratulations! screen appears, print a test page to verify the software is installed correctly.

  11. Click Finish to exit.

Cant config my router have put ip in still nothing

You must initially use an Ethernet connection to the router in order to configure it. If you are trying to do it wirelessly, it will fail.
Plug an Ethernet cable into the router and your PC. Reboot the router or unplug the power cord for a few seconds. Then follow the configuration instructions that came with the router.

I do not have a phone line to do guided setup. I would like to use a wireless adapter with my home network router but have been unable to buy a compatible one from the tivo.com list locally. Is the list...

You can do the guided setup without a phone line up to the point where it attempts to connect to the network using the wireless adapter. If it successfully connects, then you can continue the guided setup. If it does not successfully connect, then you're stuck until you can. In other words, you don't need the phone line as long as you have a wireless adapter and that adapter can successfully connect to your network and the internet.

I believe that, with the exception of some dicey hacks, you're stuck using the Tivo wireless adapter. The Tivo Community Forum website is a good place to ask questions like this. The site is independent of Tivo, inc. and has a lot of great information.

Hope this helps.

Where do i plug the lines from my 6310 all in one into my modem

On the back lower right of the unit you will see two ports for regular phone lines and one port for en RJ-45 ethernet cable. The phone port are for a phone line to come into to accept faxes through a ground line. If you still have regular phone service, the line coming from the wall outlet goes into the port marked "line" on the back of the All-In-One. The other port on the back of the printer is for a phone line to hook into a portable phone, that way you can answer the phone if there is no fax. The other port, for the ethernet cable goes to the modem or router, however you happen to have it set up.

Netgear 624

to set upa network

http://lifehacker.com/software/wifi/geek-to-live-set-up-a-home-wireless-network-162754.php

there is no "earthnet" connection. it is an ethernet connection. it looks like a phone cable but has larger ends than a phone connector. the router is connected to the computer via an ethernet cable if it needs to be hardwired to a ethernet port or internal ethernet card. a wireless connection only needs to be an add-on internal card w/antenna or a usb connector hub (it looks like a usb flash memory stick)

here is how it's done. netgear has the same type setup.

My HP Officejet 6310 All-In-One InkJet Printer is unable to complete the network installation

Are you connecting via usb or ethernet cable?
Through usb you need to install the driver on the pc it is connected to. Then share it.

Through ethernet make sure your CAT5/Ethernet cable is connected from your printer to your router/switch. Through the menu on the printer Print the network setup.

Then from your web browser type
http://ip address of printer from the network setup page

If you can then you need to add the printer driver on your pc and use a tcp/ip port to print to it through the network.
