I have a Canon Powershot s400 elph and when ever I turn it on, all it does is beep, the lens will not come out and then it shows an error code of e18. After that the camera immediately powers off. The battery in it is brand new that I got from a battery store on ebay and is supposed to be the right one. Please help. My son really wants his camera to work.

Lens errors (E18 errors on Canons) are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ...
Here's some things that you can do to try to correct it. They only seem to work for less than 50% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try:

goog old e18 yes sounds just like what mine just started doing!! then it powers off-replays pics and videos but wont take anymore pictures-HELP me ive been through so many cameras and really did spend alot and loved this one
