My Front loading LG model WM2233HW stopped draining just before the spin cycle.  I've checked the drain clean out and it was clear.  I had noticed recently that the machine sounded different during the spin cycle.  Kind of a start, stop, start, stop sound similar to when it is filling.

This issue usually occurs due to kinked drain pipe, clogged drain filter or drain pump. First make sure that the drain is not clogged and remove clogs if present. If no visible lint is present then remove the lower front access panel to check the drain filter and drain pump for any clogs, you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump completely. This error code OE means the tub is not fully drained 10 minutes after the drain pump is turned on.This is possibly due to a clogged/kinked drain hose or the drain filter is blocked. Make sure the drain hose is clear then open the filter door located at the bottom left front of the machine. Drain the remaining water from the tub through the emergency drain hose located in the filter door area. Once completely drained, turn the knob counterclockwise then pull out and clean the filter. Reach in the pump impeller area and turn it with your finger. Replace the drain pump if the filter is clear and the impeller is broken or restricted and cannot be freed.

Have you already check your drain clean out? If it's not draining, you'll need to manually drain the washer, via the small hose that pulls out, once it is drained you can unscrew the large clean out filter, and see if anything is caught up in that area.

If all that is clear, it's most likely, you'll need a new drain motor. Also, did you notice if your getting a "OE" error code on the display?

The problem is in the drain system as what error code OE stands for.The grinding noise is coming from the drain pump. Loose change, hair pins and the likes can get into the pump filter and sometimes into the pump impeller causing a grinding noise during the spin cycle because the pump works while the machine is spinning. The pump impeller may also be broken causing the grinding noise.

Disconnect power then open the filter door on the bottom left of the cabinet.


Remove the drain plug and drain the water out completely into a shallow basin or the likes. Once drained, lay a piece of towel under the filter then turn the filter knob counterclockwise and remove it. Clean the filter and reach in the pump impeller to check it if blocked or broken. If cleaning the filter does not solve the problem, you need to access the drain pump assembly and check the pump particularly the impeller thoroughly. On a Lg Front load washer if the water does not drain the machine will not go into spin. check to see if your machine is draining the water.. if not check you clean out.... But befor you open the clean out use the hose to drain water first or you will be flooded by the water.

Thanks for using FixYa. OE is a Drain Error which indicates that the water was not fully drained within 10 minutes. To start with check the drain pump filter for any clogs/foreign materials and try to clean the filter. Also if you have already checked the drain hose for any blockage then check the pump for any blockages, if still its not resolved then it seems to be the pump that has gone bad. Replace the water pump. Because the water can not pump out, the machine idles for a while then stops with the error code OE. The technician said, the drain hose should be hang high before curse down to the drainage so air can not go to the hose.

OE is a drain error (indicating the machine has not drained out in under 10 minutes). If the drain pump is not coming on at all then you have a bad drain pump motor. If it is trying to drain then you may have a clogged up drain hose. The most likely cause is a bad drain pump motor. Hope this helps.

My Frigidaire front loader washer model LTF2140E doesnt want to drain the water when set to wash (heavy-normal-quick selectors). It washes put thats it. I have to switch the selector to drain/spin then rinse/spin cycle to finish the load. I checked the drain hose for any clogs....everything is clear. Any suggestions? Also,iIs their any reset buttons for this type of washer?
